I ordered salmon with shrimp, and I always order the salad on the side, but today I’m worried a larva appeared in the salad. This means they don’t clean the produce they use. They have to use fresh vegetables. I’m a frequent customer, and the salad always tastes like it’s not fresh from the day.

San Alejo truly delivers. The pupusas are authentic and packed with warm, comforting flavor. Everything came out fresh and hot. The vibe is relaxed and welcoming. The space feels clean, inviting, and built for a good neighborhood meal.

Julio made the visit even better. His hospitality, attention, and genuine care stood out right away. He was friendly, patient, and guided us through the menu with real knowledge.

Service here is always strong. Staff stay attentive and welcoming, and the hospitality feels sincere. A great spot all around. We’ll be back, as San Alejo is truly a real hidden Salvi gem.

Had a wonderful experience at San Alejo!! The pupusas were so delicious and authentic. We also ordered carne asada with Salvadoran sausage, eggs and maduro and it was incredible. We came across it spontaneously but it was the best detour. Everything seems newly renovated and felt very clean. The food was all very fresh and so delicious

I’m so glad I found San Alejo restaurant. Today I tried two different kind of pupusas and horchata of morros and they were all delicious. I also want to say that the customer service is excellent. I will be back soon to try different foods.

One of the best tasting Salvadoran food places in the DMV! The sopa de gallina india and sopa de frijoles are favorites, not to mention the pupusas. And they welcome you with a smile.

We always buy the chicken soup here. But today was a complete disappointment. The soup had no flavor, the rice tasted like it was couple days old, the chicken was pink from the inside, and the vegetables in the soup tasted rotten.
