We are a collective of passionate talents, here to serve the wonderful community of Altadena with incredible cuisine. We started out of a side yard (hence the name), in the middle of a pandemic, serving pizza delivered through a fence with the vision to lift spirits and give back. We’ve now made a legitimate mark on our community and opened a brick and mortar. The future holds a full menu, a natural wine/beer garden, weekend brunch, and a public eatery feel like you’ve never experienced. We care immensely about our product, as well as the service we provide, and we’re excited to be here & take great care of you. See you at the intersection of Altadena dr. & Lake. Endless thanks!

We ordered the Murph’s and Crabby pizza for three people and were extremely disappointed with how alarmingly thin the pizza was. I understand it’s the style but the eating experience was unsatisfactory. The toppings were meager, the pizza got cold quickly and the oil from the pesto sauce was seeping through the bottom of the pizza box. I called Side Pie and offered to leave my contact details for when the manager was in next, and instead was told to call back when the manager was in. Not a great customer service experience. I emailed the contact section of the website a three days ago and haven’t received a reply. Doesn’t feel good to be paying higher prices for pizza to support local businesses, ensuring staff get adequate pay and sourcing of good ingredients if the responsiveness to a complaint takes a while.

Awesome experience and pizza here! Funky place where you walk in to order at a counter, grab your drinks, and go. If you want to eat in they have a big patio in the back where they’ll bring your pizzas out to you. The pizzas are awesome. They are a modern artisinal cross between traditional neopolitan and NYC style pizzas with a thin crust. The pizzas are beautifully charred with great leoparding and the ingredients are all really high quality. Highly recommend and will be back!

Tried this pizza on a Saturday night right before they closed. We got a pepperoni sausage and a Margherita pizza. Received the pizza quite fast, maybe in like 15min since they were closing soon.
The pizza was nice and hot but BURNT AS HELL FROM THE BOTTOM. It also lacked the toppings, just had a few sprinkled here and there.
Lastly, it was soooo thin, like paper. The taste was okay, not bad but not superb.
If you want overpriced pizza with excessive toppings go to Petrillo’s Pizza in San Gabriel.
If you want burnt pizza with sparse toppings, go here.

i got Murphys Green and it was quite good. thin crust was nice and had the perfect amount of chew/weight in the crust for my taste. pesto was tasty and a good balance, i think less toppings are okay since the crust is so thin. i ate the whole pie by myself oops
workers were very sweet, everything was very clean. a little expensive but i was very impressed with the speed and taste

I ordered take out online at 4pm, the next pick up time was 5:50pm. I thought maybe it was just busy, but when I arrived, people ordering in person were waiting ~15min. So I guess order in person? I was also not very sure about the dine in situation. I didn’t see any information about the set up on their website. There’s a pick up/order window on Lake, and a patio elsewhere. The pizza itself was great! I had the Bobby Green and it was better than I expected.

Moderately tasty, overpriced pizza with slow service. There are a lot better options than this place. We waited about 35 minutes for a single, large pepperoni pizza. Cost: $24.04. The pizza was edible, but I’ve had better. Strangely, this place is only open Thursday to Sunday, from 4-9pm. Only take-out–no sit down service.

wow. so good, toppings were great without being overwhelming. the Kevin Lyman is the best cream based pizza I’ve ever had. also had the limited run Wiseguy which delivered on the spicy warning, but definitely in a good way!

Side pie is a delight. Definitely one of the best pizza joints in the San Gabriel valley. I’ve been here a few times and service is always friendly. The pizzas come fast and they’re just so gosh darn good. Usually if I’m meeting up with friends and a pub or brewery, I’ll stop by and I’ll pick up a pie. So I guess I’ve been here more than a few times :-). So they also have a back patio where you can sit down and eat and sometimes they have live music back there. All in all great people. Great pizza. I recommend it highly stuff your face kids.

I would give 3.5 stars.
I personally think this place was a bit overpriced for the taste, honestly I wasn’t the biggest fan. They had interesting and exciting ideas for the pizzas but some of them honestly fell short and the dough wasn’t my favorite. I do think their service is good and all but I wouldn’t see myself going back here.

Grade B+ (87) For taste, the pizza was good but you basically eat it standing, it’s meant for you to take out home. Nothing to stop the presses about though.
