You order at the counter, they’ll bring food to the table, and you clean them up yourselves.
Original – None of us liked this. Chicken wasn’t well seasoned. Although it wasn’t sauced, the plain korean fried chickens we’ve had usually had bold seasoning. This one just fell flat.
Spicy (Yangnyeom) – Better than the original. Flavorful but the breading/batter fell apart. Not as crispy as I hoped.
Sweet Soy – My favorite. Good blend of sweetness and savoriness. Breading remained intact and crispy.
Kimchi and radishes are not free, you have to buy them as a side.
For the fried chickens alone, we won’t be returning as there are better options.
Pro tip: try the bulgogi on top of the pancake and ask for gochujang (Korean hot sauce) to kick it up a little.
Bulgogi: good portion for lunch, soft beef, interesting spicy sauce. The japchae noodle is too sticky for take out food so I would recommend for dine in only.
세이프웨이 같은곳 쿵파오 치킨이 훨씬 더 맛있습니다.
This was not yangnyeom chicken at all.
The sauce tasted like a random mix of ketchup, sriracha, mayo, gochujang, vinegar, and syrup. Maybe it’s their own “twist,” but this is absolutely not what yangnyeom chicken is supposed to taste like. Anyone who’s had real Korean fried chicken would know that immediately.
The batter was way too thick, and the flavor balance was completely off. I finished it only because I paid for it, not because it was enjoyable.
If you’re wondering whether I’d come back :
absolutely not. No chance.
This isn’t about personal preference.
Yangnyeom chicken does not taste like this.
HERE is answer back to Store Owner or Seoul Chicken Team
If this was a Honey Gochujang dish, the issue is that there was no honey flavor at all — only an overpowering vinegar acidity. When a menu name sets an expectation, a complete disconnect between the name and the actual taste is a valid criticism.
Also, while you emphasize that this isn’t “traditional yangnyeom,” that doesn’t address the core issues raised: the excessively thick batter and the lack of balance in the overall flavor. Those are execution problems, not matters of personal taste.
If this is a house recipe meant to represent your style, then the responsibility to clearly match flavor, description, and quality is even greater.
“Different” doesn’t automatically mean “successful,” nor does it exempt the dish from criticism.
