I came here with a group on Thanksgiving Day, and it was honestly the best choice we could’ve made. The food was incredible. Everything was super flavorful dishes like the spicy pork, bulgogi, and the perfectly crispy pancakes. The banchan were fresh and delicious, and the drink options (soju, makgeolli, and beer) made the meal even more fun. The staff was warm, attentive, and made us feel completely taken care of, even on a holiday. Such a cozy, welcoming place to dine. Highly recommend!

Simple but delicious and affordable menu, great service. Food goes well with Makgeolli- a low-alcohol percentage, traditional, cloudy, milky-white Korean rice wine- the stir fried pork was delicious but may be a little spicy-hot for some. The bulgogi was good and not spicy at all.

This is a fantastic new restaurant, and was a really great casual place to eat. I’ve read that the owner is the main guy that takes care of you, and it seems that way, because he is happy to explain things and make sure you have a good meal. The pot meal comes with the four sides to eat as an appetizer first, then you can eat those appetizers with the rice that comes with the pot meal, essentially however you want. I ordered the #1 and I’m pretty lame with my spice tolerance, and it was great.
The food was genuinely delicious, and was honestly really affordable, especially for what you get.
Also the owner gives more rice or more of the appetizers as you want them, so it was genuinely satisfying, and you get more of what you need to enjoy the meal.
Honestly, this is a gem, and I’m only guessing here, but I imagine a family restaurant in Korea might be exactly like this. It felt really natural and genuine.

I went here with my mum and ordered the signature spicy Mr Cookbop (red soup) and Samgyetang (삼계탕), which is a whole chicken in ginseng broth. I really liked the Mr Cookbop, which was rich with ingredients, also with sliced radishes. It reminded me of 육개장. It went very nicely with the cold weather! My mum had the Samgyetang, which had very tenderly cooked chicken and a warm broth. Particularly the owner was very friendly and kind – wishing you the best of luck in the future! Would highly recommend both these dishes, and you definitely won’t regret it!

This place is very minimal and neat. The atmosphere is really relaxing. The owner is very nice, friendly, and checked up on us as we ate. The food was very fresh, especially the side dishes, and authentic. The portions were very filling as well. The menu is also changed daily according to the owner. Service was amazing overall.

Mr. CookBop is an absolute must-try for anyone craving delicious, authentic Korean food in New Haven! The flavors are bold, fresh, and comforting—every dish is clearly made with care and attention to detail. Their Korean fried chicken is crispy and flavorful, and the bibimbap is perfectly balanced with fresh veggies, savory beef, and a satisfying gochujang kick.

Portion sizes are generous, prices are fair, and the quality is outstanding. Highly recommended—Mr. CookBop is definitely a gem in New Haven’s food scene!

Soooo freaking good, and seemingly better than all other Korean spots in the area. Great food, excellent price, some of the best Korean I’ve had. I almost hesitate to give it a review because I’m afraid this “under the radar” spot might blow up, but I couldn’t not!!
