Playita Tacos y Mariscos was an okay place to try. The waitress who attended us was very kind and attentive, and they did bring out a small cake for my husband for his birthday, which we appreciated.
However, honestly, we felt the food was very expensive for what we received. We paid $99 for a plate that didn’t even include rice or tortillas. It was mostly crayfish, and crab none of it peeled so we ended up making a huge mess while eating.
For almost $100, we didn’t even feel full. A lot of it ends up going to waste because you take it home but don’t really eat it later. Most of it was imitation crab. There were maybe about nine mussels, no clams, a few shrimp, but mainly crayfish that we had to peel ourselves. We didn’t really enjoy the experience — it was more messy than enjoyable.
We went there to celebrate my husband’s birthday, and unfortunately, it wasn’t anything special. The red sauce has its own flavor and style, but it wasn’t for us. It just wasn’t what we were expecting.
For us personally, we wouldn’t return. It was okay to try once, but sadly, it didn’t meet our expectations.

The margarita was possibly the BEST I’ve had in Madison. Our meal was worth it for the drinks alone. The flavor of everything was fantastic!

The beef in both chimichangas ordered was a bit tough but within reason considering how good the overall dishes were.

My ears were ringing from the music when we left so maybe don’t go on Sunday for karaoke if you’re looking to hear your dinner mates. We didn’t know before hand, but it looked like people were having fun and enjoying themselves.

Overall we enjoyed the experience and we will be back.

La Playita is a hidden gem! The place was super clean and welcoming, and the service was friendly and kind from the moment I walked in. I ordered the caldo de camarón and wow — it was absolutely superb! Hands down the best I’ve had in the area. It was packed with shrimp — lots of them and in different sizes — and came with everything you need to fully enjoy it.
The salsa was also a standout — super fresh and full of flavor, the perfect start to the meal. I paired it all with an agua de horchata that was just perfect — creamy and refreshing. I really appreciated the staff’s recommendation; it was spot on. I’ll definitely be coming back. Highly recommend this place if you’re craving authentic, well-made Mexican food!

I ordered tacos. I got 3. I ordered ground beef. It tasted horrible. Like dog food. I had 2 bites. Also, my glass had stuck food on it as if it was just rinsed out and not washed. The only positive thing was that the server was nice.

SUCKS. Charged DELIVERY FEE for takeout. I arrived and the place was empty, as it usually is when I go there. Empty with the loudest music ever. I placed a takeout order and was charged a delivery fee AGAIN, which is why I’m posting this review. When asked, the server said it was for the bag used to place my order. They also charge a fee for using your credit card.
So you get charged for the food and pray it is accurate and edible (it is a toss up, I always get home and realize either the salsa or the lime or the beans are missing); get charged a fee to pick your food up, and you get charged to use your credit card.
They should be EMBARASSED. It’s not like there was a SINGLE CUSTOMER THERE to justify being busy or forgetful. They are just CARELESS and do not care about providing a good experience, just charging people for BAGS. And using a credit card. And just arriving.
So disappointed. Avoid that place. Sucks.

I had already tried this meal at lunchtime with some friends once before but there was a difference between the previous time and this time in the taste of the food, not if it was that the previous time we visited it during the day and this night, but this time a soup was ordered 7 mares and this time it was only flavored water, as if it was the last thing there was and they mixed more water, nothing to see than what I had tried before.
Another was that I found the price of the drinks very high and we ordered 2 medium 5$ each and a large 10$, for me the only difference was the glass with handle but of size it was the same or almost the same minimum difference for the value it costs.

Before packing the food, someone should check its condition. The fish tacos were overcooked, and my son couldn’t even take a bite. I initially thought they were tacos de tripa; do they look appetizing to you? Don’t get me wrong, your food is generally good, but the quality has been disappointing. I hope the owner pays attention to the menu. It’s frustrating when you call to order something that’s listed on the menu, only to be told it’s unavailable. And it happens again when you try to order other supposedly available items.

Finally, this place got open. This new restaurant in town is focused, in my opinion, on seafood dishes, which it is great for people like me who grew up on the beach.
Menu has tons of variety of dishes almost impossible to order. If you are not familiar with mexican seafood cuisine, I loved the variety, but it might be overwhelming. They have some dishes without seafood, but they are very limited.
We ordered a molcajete, which was really good. I was not disappointed with. I will be back to try other dishes.
The place was nice and cute with beach decor and colors.
The only thing we didn’t like was complementary water was not available ,only for purchase.

The staff are curtious and professional. Veronica was exceptional and attentive. She’s a great server. If you like seafood this is your place. The food is very good and I’d go back again. I loved the margaritas.

I do not recommend this place 1.) we were the first of four families that arrived and we were the last ones to get our order taken 2.) we asked for the molcajete de mariscos and instead we got a plate of mariscos yet got charged like it was the molcajete 3.) VERY BAD SERVICE the waitress was called over twice and looked at us and then proceeded to ignore us 4.) the waiter asked if we needed anything we said yes could we get to go bags and then proceeded to keep us waiting 15 minutes until the waitress asked if we needed anything 5.) the table was very sticky 6.) we got charged an 18% tip when they shouldn’t have gotten anything for the horrible service 7.) some of the shrimp had already gone bad and yet was served to us…we will not be coming back and we don’t recommend anyone who wants good service and quality to go
