Tried Thunder-J’s Pizzeria in the St. Augustine Beach Winn-Dixie Plaza
I didn’t even realize there was a new pizza place there until I recently saw a post online—and I’m so glad I did! What a great little local spot. Hands down the best meatball sub I’ve had in years. The roll, sauce, cheese, and meatballs were all absolutely delicious.
The couple who run (and I believe own) the place are incredibly nice and welcoming—definitely the kind of place that makes you want to come back. Can’t wait to go back and try the pizza next!
Went back to Thunder-J’s Pizzeria in the St. Augustine Beach Winn-Dixie plaza to try the pizza after enjoying the meatball subs so much last week. I’ve got to give their pizza as well! We ordered a ½ cheese & ½ meatball and a supreme—both were delicious. The owner and his wife were just as friendly as my first visit, and I found out they’re a local mom, pop, and son business. Always happy to support great local spots!

As soon as I walked in the door I was welcomed by Thunder J himself. As his wife and son were in the back preparing my pizza we spoke about the restaurant. He walked me through their menu, their mission, the superhero theme (they’re all characters he created himself, some featuring family members) So cool! You can tell he cares about his craft and is passionate about serving the community.
We ordered the 2 pizzas and the s’mores pizza. It’s the best pizza we’ve had in town. And my fiancé says it’s the best white pizza he’s ever had! The s’more’s pizza was to die for, as expected. As soon as you take your first bite you can tell they use fresh ingredients. The crust is light and airy while still having a slight crunch and chew. Perfectly balanced! The sauce was flavorful and fresh. Couldn’t ask for a better pizza, will definitely be back.

We got a sausage and pepperoni pizza and absolutely loved it. They use 2 types of pepperoni and 2 types of sausage. I highly recommend stopping by and getting a pie.

me n my bestie rode our bikes motorcycles) here from palm coast twice…first time they were closed…so we came back when they were open…and it did NOT disappoint…the pizza was hot…delicious…full of flavor…the crust was so fluffy yet crispy n delicious..n the cheese…omg the cheese actually stretched it was so real…we ordered a large half meatball half plain…n I actually ate all 4 slices of the plain (which was my half)… N usually at other places I can barely put 2 dwn kuz the pizza is just not up to par…u can tell someone has good….great pizza…when their plain pizza is delicious we even got to try their homemade choc chip cookies…u can even taste the love in them n the experience we got was out this world…such great owners and ppl…the owner even let me use his screw driver to fix the light on my bike that was hanging…explained everything to us since it was our first actual time inside…it was truly a great time and we will be back with more guests!!! Thank you J…ur wife n ur son!!! TRULY AMAZING!!!

First time trying tonight, got a meatball pizza and sausage pepperoni pizza and both were amazing! Best pizza on the island. The owner was very nice, even recommended putting meatballs under the cheese when we called in our order. Will definitely be back!

What a great experience at this family-owned pizza place! The moment we walked in, John and Amy welcomed us with genuine warmth that made us feel right at home. You can tell they care deeply about their guests and take pride in what they serve.

Everything was delicious! the pizzas had a perfect crust with just the right balance of crunch and chew, they make a flavorful sauce, and gooey, melty cheese. The pepperoni had that great smoky flavor and crispy edge that made it stand out. The Caesar salad was fresh and crisp, a great complement to the meal.

Amazing food and wonderful service. Great family atmosphere. We had the pepperoni pizza and garlic not knots and were very pleased. We were greeted by owner(s) John, Amy and Hunter and will definitely support them as a new business in the area.

Hot, Fresh and delicious pizza, In a great family run place, we had The Meteor pizza, a Ceaser salad, Garlic knots and then ended the meal with a Chocolate chip cookie. The pizza was cooked to perfection, we had the garlic knots as an appetizer and right away after dipping them into the sauce I knew the pizza was gonna be amazing. Will be back again soon!

We’re so glad we gave this place a chance! It was like being invited into someone’s kitchen and having everything prepared specifically for our tastes. The pizzas were delicious — we loved the homemade crust. The Thunder Sticks were amazing and we hope they become a big seller! Also, those chocolate chip cookies are incredible! What a wonderful place to visit and we will be sure to return in the future!
