Holy cow, if this isn’t the freshest and tastiest Mexican food I’ve found in Oregon. Coming from Southern California where there’s obviously a lot of variety, the authenticity, freshness and flavour at El Primo is genuinely on point in a way I’ve never had before — You cannot find food like this anywhere else in the greater Portland area. My partner has been coming here for years and has never stopped talking about it — After now having tried it, we will be coming back much more often.
We tried the lengua, asada and birria tacos as well as the half chicken. All of the meat was perfectly seasoned and cooked — I didn’t know it was possible to have an asada taco that wasn’t dry or bland. The chicken is so juicy it melts in your mouth, the salsas are perfectly spicy, and the homemade tortillas are to DIE for. The prices are unbeatable, and the family that runs everything are all kind and hospital. The owner even remembered my partner which we always appreciate!
I am so grateful for these folks because food like this makes me have hope for humanity yet. The best part is how we didn’t feel terrible after how much we ate, which means they’re doing something right by their ingredients and preparation for sure.
100% give it a visit if you haven’t already.

Bomb tacos!! I’ve eaten a lot of tacos in my life and these are the most delicious tacos I’ve had in Oregon so far. Asada, Al pastor and lengua were all cooked to perfection, flavorful and their salsas are so freaking good. We came back a few hours later for another round of tacos The service was also 10/10. The second time we were there they had run out of the onions and roasted jalapeño and a few minutes later they showed up with a bowl they freshly made for us. The lady in the kitchen was so sweet!

Best Mexican food I’ve had in Oregon – no contest. We have been road tripping for a few months and were missing Mexican food. Reminds me of the LA taco trucks we used to eat often when we lived there. The authenticity and flavor were so delicious. The man running the truck was extremely kind and there was plenty of room to sit and eat our food.

This place was such a surprise! We always drive right by and comment on the smoker, but have never stopped. We were missing out! The service and food were great! I asked for a few customizations and they were happy to do it for us – the homemade tortillas are so delicious!
