We had such a fantastic experience at Kami Thai Sushi Fusion! From the moment we arrived, the staff was warm and welcoming, and the service was incredibly prompt.
For appetizers, we ordered the crab angels, seafood baked avocado, tempura green beans, and spicy coconut soup – all bursting with flavor, beautifully plated, and served fresh. The coconut soup had the perfect amount of spice and warmth -absolutely comforting.
For our mains, we dined in with the hot flash sushi roll, hot & spicy basil beef, and Thai beef salad – each dish was incredibly flavorful, perfectly cooked, and thoughtfully presented. We also ordered the chicken pad Thai to go, and even as takeout, it was still delicious and satisfying.
So grateful to have a spot like this in our town. Kami is a total gem – can’t wait to return!
They were crowded at 11 am on a Tuesday, so I expect they’ll do well. And I’m happy for that, heaven knows Pell City needs more than hamburgers, chicken, bad pizza, and more burgers.
The reasons for less than 5 stars are 1. the music was so loud we couldn’t really talk during lunch, and it was a date lunch. Also, my husband ended up with the wrong drink just because it was so loud he and the sweet waitress couldn’t hear each other.
2. I got my plate like 10-15 minutes after my husband’s arrived. I was starving!
3. We were still hungry when we left. The portions are just really small. That’s ok if you’re paying $30 for lunch, but it was close to $50 tip included, so leaving hungry is not cool.
So, we’ll probably go again sometime for a special treat, the fish was especially fresh! But it probably won’t be a regular haunt for us, unfortunately.
We do wish them and all local restaurants the best. Except Pell City Steak House. We do not wish them the best, ever.
The basil rolls are mainly stuffed with lettuce.
The nigiri was typical, on the small side.
The catfish was good. (better than Surin)
My rating would have been a 5, except for the basil rolls.
We had the basil roll, sushi, Pot licker, beef and egg with rice, and the beef rendang. For dessert we tried the bread pudding as well and from the presentation to the taste of everything we ate, top marks. It also helps that Kami is located on the way to Atlanta and opens virtually every day of the week. People who travel to Atlanta (like me) pretty often as well as Asian fusion enthusiasts (also like me) finally have a conveniently located one stop shop for all their cravings.
I’ve seen complaints about space, but for a place of this quality, it is only a matter of time before expansion occurs to make what is great even better. Fully enjoyed Kami’s food and can’t wait for the many meals I’ll be having there!
Will update my review when I come back to try the ramen!
