Well I finally made it out to Recos for frogs and bluegills and hit the jackpot. Now this is a place where everyone knows everyone else. Of course no one knew me, but yet it felt like home! The frog saddles were huge and were perfectly cooked. Same with the bluegill fillets.
What’s nice is that the bartender and cook took personal pride in their products and enthusiastically produced the best frogs I ever have had.
And I met some great people and shared Kankakee River fishing tips.
Like I said, in about 5 minutes of walking through the front door, it felt like home!
Note about the picture – the frog dinner also includes fries and Cole slaw. But there were so many froglegs, the dinner came in two packages for my take-away.
Worth the 50 miles I traveled to get frog and gills!

This was my second time visiting this place to see my friends band perform. The owner is super nice and friendly. The burgers were good, and the beer was cold, and the band was rockin. Oh ya, and I believe it’s also dog friendly.

Always your typical dive bar, so it’s a great place to play a game of pool or darts, have a few cold beers and listen to a good jute box. The slot machines are sometimes friendly, and the bartenders are always friendly. Had the chicken parmesan sandwich-yummy!!

Grew up in this bar! My mom ran a Italian restaurant there when Reco was still living! Great man! He used to watch me while mom ran the restaurant! I was like 7 at the time I am 55 now and still love this place just the same! Lots of good memories here! The people here are just amazing! Mama T the owner is one of the best people you will ever meet and her staff is amazing!! So is the food! Go check it out!! You will be happy you did!

A good little sit down bar with good customer service and pretty good food. They have just about anything you need drink wise as well. The only gripe I have is that if you go in there anytime that isn’t late or on the weekend it just doesn’t have the fun but chill bar atmosphere I’m looking for. The times it does though it is a very fun place to be.
