This is not a DIY barbecue. Everything is done in the kitchen.
BBQ: we ordered the Bulgogi, the Galbi and the Pork belly. I’ve never had such bad Bulgogi. It was so dry. After everyone took a bite, we all decided we didn’t want to finish, and sent it back to the kitchen. We told the waiter we didn’t like it because it was over overcooked, and it was not taken off the tab at the end. The pork belly was OK. The galbi was the best part.
Other dishes, I would recommend: the cucumber tofu salad (best of the side dishes), dolsot bibimbap.
The teeny tiny side dishes only are included with the BBQ. Otherwise if you want any kimchi, you have to pay for a separate side dish. I prefer the traditional Korean style place where the kimchi and other banchan are included in your meal, and not just one bite.
I was really hoping for a super solid Korean barbecue restaurant in Jersey City. I would maybe go back again just to give it another shot, and to try the oysters since they were sold out. But otherwise I think Ari’s Kitchen has better, not home style, food for cheaper.
We started with the cucumber and oysters, both were incredibly fresh. The grilled corn was a highlight, etuded before the main entree. The kernels were popping with flavor, and I couldn’t resist getting my hands dirty. Finally, the pork was so tender. The best way to eat it is wrapped in lettuce with a bit of kimchi. What a combo. Say less.
Overall, the food was fantastic and the atmosphere was great. I’ll definitely be back for the soup next time!
The 24oz Double-Cut LA Galbi is the star of the menu—perfectly marinated, grilled over live fire, and served with fresh greens, ssamjang, pickles, soup, and rice. It’s a full spread meant to be wrapped, shared, and enjoyed at a slower pace. Lighter dishes like the charred carrots with smoked tofu puree and the Pan Con Ricotta add a modern balance, while the bibimbap Hot Stone Bowl arrives sizzling with veggies, egg, and gochujang for classic comfort.
Created by the team behind DOMODOMO and ONDO, BRBQ focuses on flavor, fire, and thoughtful dishes you don’t typically see cooked this way. A great spot for anyone looking for wood-grilled depth and Korean soul in the heart of Jersey City.
Must try Galbi tang is incredible. One best in NJ !
Restaurant vibe is cozy and luxurious.
Food Price is very good. Love it.
BRBQ is a top notch recently debuted restaurant. My partner and I had the pleasure of dining here and it completely changed our mindset on Korean Soul Food. I was the first person to try their hidden menu item called Donkatsu which is breaded pork chops topped with magic sauce that makes it tastier.
I did not have any expectations going in but going out I can say BRBQ have set the bar high.
I recommend highly this restaurant.
Much appreciation to the BRBQ crew and CapitalOne/Resy for the recommendation!
I shared the signature dish “Double Cut La Galbi” and I would highly recommend it. Unique beef flavor, marinated and cooked to perfection. Don’t hesitate: order it!
There is a large choice of cocktails to choose from as well as a variety of wines. The beer selection is reduced but you will find your beloved Sapporo there, so no worries.
Overall, it’s a MUST visit spot in New Jersey. I loved every dish and they made me feel like I was dining at a Michelin restaurant. I’ll definitely be back soon-
