Wow! My girlfriend and I went to Belly’s today for lunch!! I had the grilled pork chop (tender & juicy)!! She had the baked chicken, again, tender & juicy! We shared okra & potato salad but both had to have cabbage! Yummy! Don’t forget they make everything fresh, with new specials daily & have take out too! Check them out, you’ll be glad you did!

The Fish was well cooked according to my taste. The sides were quite a hit and was surprised that they put penne pasta in the mac and cheese which I did not think that would been seen once the food came out. Very Nice Selection of meats and sides to choose from most of the time and can’t wait to be back when I come and visit the Transportation Museum

FOOD;

The food was great once I received it. After waiting approximately 30+ minutes, IT WAS HOT, FRESH and delicious!

SERVICE/ATMOSPHERE

When I walked in, I was greeted. There was a poster menu, NO PRICES. I had to constantly ask, how much is this, how much is that (I had the money, but I was trying to see what kind of specials they had). After a minute of frustration, I just said, “I’d like a leg and a thigh.” The gentleman advised me that if the side does not have a red mark crossing it out, then the item was available.

I ordered squash as a side, went to my car, and waited. After about 20 minites, the young child (~12 years old) comes outside and says that they are out of squash…. so I said I’ll have the okra. I’m thinking ok, you are out of the squash, I have been waiting twenty plus minutes, they are going to send me on my way…. NO!!

I waited another ten or so minutes went inside AGAIN to see why it was taking ten minutes to fry three minute okra!! He said I was next I said ok…I went back outside…..

I waited another what seemed like ten more minutes. I walked back in he said you’re coming up, I was just about to tell him to give it to the next person because at that point I wanted to get back to Charlotte and go to places that I know!

Now that I think about it, I waited almost an hour for a leg, thigh, okra and mediocre corn bread.

I also received a SWEET tea, which should have been given with my meal. I did not know that the child was going to fix it or I would have said no ice (sensitive teeth). I was under the impression that I’d have an option in drink.

I understand there were other orders ahead of me, but they need a bigger fryer or something! The lady in the back with the braids needs to SMILE when customers walk in rather than roll her eyes as if she does not want to work or the business.

The dining room was typical mom and pop style, cozy and comfortable, while making yourself at home.

I do not like a child(ren) serving me! I understand that it’s family owned, but I do not like children in that role.

The pricing was great! I paid $7.48 for the 2 price dark, corn bread, a side and drink. I would have paid $10.00 with no problem add a desert $15.00. They are definitely selling themselves short! I understand that they want to make it affordable but I’m sure they are only breaking even at the end of the day, no profit (for the sake of others pockets).

Had it been less of a wait, I would have given a 5 all around!!

Good luck on your business!!

I was so thrilled to find out that there is a soul food restaurant in Granite Quarry. I like soul food and I make a special effort to support soul food restaurants. When I got there, I was so disappointed to see that this is just another one of those soul food restaurants that is shamefully environmentally abusive. When I walked in, there was styrofoam everywhere. For some crazy reason, they are putting the food in single-use petroleum plastic and petroleum styrofoam containers to walk 10 ft with the food and set it down on a table. What in the world are these people thinking? Why are you using environmentally abusive containers when people are eating the food the restaurant? I don’t know if the owners are ignorant of the substantial harm that they are doing to our environment or if they just don’t care about others. When they brought me the food, they set it down in all that single-use plastic and stryrofoam. I told the waiter that I was eating there. He informed me that they package the food like that for people who are eating there. When he set my food down, it was in five different plastic containers with five different petroleum plastic lids. When I ordered, they asked me if I wanted onions on my beans. I told them yes. They literally put a few pieces of chopped onion in a separate petroleum plastic container with a separate petroleum plastic lid. Even though I was eating in, they actually sat down a fake knife and fork. There’s nothing I hate more than trying to eat with a petroleum plastic fork and a petroleum plastic knife. They didn’t even have real silverware! I hate it but I can never go back to this restaurant. I would beg them to completely change the way they prepare and serve food. When I asked for some ice in my drink, they brought another petroleum plastic ‘to go’ cup to bring the ice. Please! Use plates, forks, spoons, knives, and multi-use cups. At those prices, your customers deserve it!

The food was delicious and service was welcoming and friendly. TOP NOTCH quantity of portions and seasoning of the food was on point *chefs kiss*

Im not sure what Arnold’s(previous reviewer) was stuck in about the food being in containers but for the amount of food they serve most people, including myself, would be needing a to-go box anyways for the food. So the food is already conveniently placed. Eating with plastic-ware wasn’t an issue..I know how to eat properly. He mentioned petroleum plastic like 8 times, but I bet he used petroleum gas to drive there in his vehicle. Maybe he was having a bad day but looking back at his reviews for all other restaraunts- he’s just sad.

Yall(Bellys soul food) keep doing what you’re doing!

I never got the chance to eat at Belly’s when it was in Spencer, and the times we’ve gone by Granit Quarry, we missed them. But today was the day and we’re thankful we finally got to eat some yummy soul food. I got the fried chicken with yams and mac n cheese. My husband had baked chicken, rice and corn on the cob. Everything was delicious, we finished our entire meal! We look forward to trying more of their dishes next!

It’s a hole in the wall. That being said, food was awesome! We ordered a few combos and then shared as a table and we’re not disappointed. The team was very attentive and super friendly. Don’t let the dining room furnishings/atmosphere keep you from their amazing flavorful food! We even met the Queen! Save room for the honeybun cake, you won’t regret it!
