The appetizers, sushi, and dessert were all excellent. My husband and I regularly have omakase in NYC and this was really a step above the rest. Truly outstanding. The service and overall experience were very good. It is BYOB.

We had a wonderful first experience at Aoki. The directions provided after our reservation were very clear, so it was easy to find the location.
From the moment we walked in, we could tell how much care went into everything from the plates and water glasses to the interior design.
Every piece of sushi crafted by the chef was incredibly fresh and flavorful. The plating was beautiful and clean, which made the experience even more special. It’s truly rare to find a place like this in New Jersey. The ingredients were fresh, and we were able to try many unique types of fish that we don’t usually had before in NJ.
We chose the $200 omakase course, which offered a wide variety of dishes, all prepared with great attention to detail.
Even the dessert, handmade by the owner, was absolutely delicious. The warm hospitality made our special day even more memorable.
Highly recommended to anyone looking for an exceptional dining experience.

The staff were incredibly kind and friendly and they even took amazing photos of me and my husband. It was such a wonderful experience..and I can’t wait to come back!!

If you don’t feel like going all the way to the city, then this is a great place to go for omakase sushi! Husband and I decided to go with the $150 course and it did not disappoint. Chef crafted every sushi and appetizer with perfection and server was very generous throughout our time there. Inside the restaurant gave off relaxing vibe and almost felt like you were sitting in a sushi restaurant in Japan. Overall, great place for date night and highly recommend for anyone looking to dine in fort lee for top notch sushi quality!

Authentic intimate BYOB omakase experience. High quality sushi from Japan. Really easy to make a reservation over the phone.

Cons : would love to have seen a written out menu of everything , it would of helped with the language barrier. Also, high end reusable chop sticks would of been better for this experience instead of the cheap wooden chop sticks that you get with to-go orders. I also would have liked to have gotten more soy sauce, wasabi, and ginger with our courses. We got it served during the first course and then it was taken away. We didn’t have any during the rest of the 15 courses.

This place is tucked away in the back alley of Fort Lee. It’s a small place with 8 seats. Very intimate settings for a BYOB meal. You’ll see the chef prepare the food in front of you. The ingredients are top notch. Fresh, solid Omakase. Nice to have this in NJ and easy to get to.

We had a wonderful Omakase experience with Chef Masa. He did surprise us with foods that were entirely new to us (like Sea Urchins). All the fish served were sourced from Japan and tasted like nothing we had before. The place was really hard to find because it was late evening and their front entrance is on a by-lane next to the back entrance of Kiky Jewelers.

This was my first omakase, and a year later, after trying out many more, this still has a special place in my heart. The food is undoubtedly good, but what made this so special is chef Aoki and the staff working here. They are very attentive, pay attention to details, refill your tea when it’s cold, and provide an amazing feel for Japanese hospitality. A lot of other omakase at this price range focuses more on using expensive ingredients, but lack the intimacy of sushi Aoki that makes sushi Aoki truly memorable. I am looking forward to my next time at sushi Aoki.

Superb Omakase experience that toes the line between meal and art from a chef that clearly shows his experience working at top sushi houses in both Japan and the US.

$150 omakase for 12 piece sushi, 8 piece sashimi, 1 handroll, 4 appetizers, a soup, roasted green tea, and a dessert. BYOB, but there is no bottle fee.

My appetizers included a sashimi salad (different from the 8pc sashimi mentioned above), fried fish, baby scallop and mussel dish, anchovy and mushroom dish.

Chef Aoki prepares each piece gracefully and explains to you individually the origin of the piece, all of which are imported daily from Japan. Aoki’s wife is the only other employee in the house. Yes, I say house because the ambience of the environment is very homely. You can see shelves on the walls with the plates, homely Japanese music is playing at a soft volume, and the husband and wife treat you as if you were their esteemed friends and houseguests.

Each piece tastes as fresh as it can get, and service is superb. Aoki’s wife will replace your tea as it gets lukewarm without even having to ask.

Highly recommended for a date or for a single person. I went solo and did not feel uncomfortable.

Excellent food and a wonderful experience. The sushi is on par with the best I’ve had both in and out of Japan. Chef Aoki sources all of the main ingredients from Japan specifically and it shows – each piece is its own unique delicacy. As far as Omakase goes this is up there with the best and the service is phenomenal. Can’t recommend the experience highly enough. . . Since it’s BYOB you can really have a well priced meal service for the quality as well.
