I like this place, it is close in the neighborhood and the staff is friendly to first time customers. Had a simple lunch with a friend and left stuffed. It isn’t as expensive as other nearby Thai food but it is still pricey. I ordered what the employee at the counter recommended when I asked and was not disappointed. I recommend giving it a try, so will be pleasantly surprised.

The place was very clean when we ate there and the aesthetic was nice.

GaNai is a charming little Thai spot in downtown Oakland that packs a lot into a small space. The food is delicious, the atmosphere is cozy, and the layout, while efficient, has a few quirks that could be improved.

The setup is more of a café-style arrangement—order at the counter, then find a seat. The dining room is tight-knit and well-organized, but a couple of seating choices could be rethought. For example, the two-person table near the counter and entry door feels squeezed in, and it might have worked better on the other side where the beverage and utensil station is. Similarly, the L-shaped counter by the window is a bit awkward—two people don’t fit comfortably there. A straight counter facing the window would’ve made more sense.

Now, let’s talk drinks—Thai iced tea lovers, take note! They offer three varieties: original Thai iced tea, matcha (or maybe green tea?), and another one I didn’t catch. They’re all made with dairy, which is traditional, but a non-dairy option would have been a nice touch for those who need it.

Overall, adorable, cozy, and worth a visit. The food and friendly vibe make up for the tight seating. Would I come back? Absolutely. Just maybe not for that corner counter seat.

Really good rice. Could’ve done without the runny egg when I asked for extra egg. Is that a west coast thing ‍♂️ Very fresh tasting.

We got this via UberEats, completely surprising to see good reviews. We ordered the pad see ew, the chicken tasted 2 days old and very little noodles. Every dish was bland. We ordered mixed vegetables with beef and didn’t get any beef. Very disappointing worst food delivery we’ve received.

The leftover Khao Sai coconut broth soup spilled in my bag on my planner and my laptop and I was unbothered due to what the soup did for my soul on a rainy day. Definitely coming back

This is pretty much Strictly togo food. No plates, plastic forks, 2 tables to eat at. No bathrooms for customers-seriously?! Food was delicious though!! Next time we’ll just order it togo.

I’ve been here about five times now, and all the food has been great in terms of both quality and size, whether dining in or taking out. Very small for dining in tho, probably seating no more than 10 max, and the prices on the bottled Thai tea & coffee are not competitive with nearby boba shops (with admittedly worse service and worse food or no food at all).

I had the egg rolls which were really good. They have a good menu with a lot of options. Friends had a noodle dish and they said it was good too. I’ll try a main dish next time I’m in the area.

Reasonable price and fast. Thai food was decent, but the chicken was slightly rubbery and the green curry was on the watery side.
