I wish I could give zero stars. We ordered takeout from New China in Annandale and, after we had already placed the order, we looked up the reviews and saw all the complaints about cleanliness (bugs/hair, etc.). Even then, we still decided to pay and pick up the food out of curiosity and so it wouldn’t go to waste.
We picked up around 3 PM. My boyfriend went inside, gave my name exactly as it appears on the receipt, and confirmed the order. The woman told him “they’re still making it,” then had him pay at the counter. He remembers seeing a total around $30, and my receipt (with tip) also shows about $30.
Later that evening around 6–7 PM, I got an angry phone call from a woman at the restaurant insisting I “never picked up” my order. I calmly explained that my boyfriend picked it up hours earlier and gave the name, but she kept arguing with me and eventually hung up.
That’s when we checked his card statement and saw we were charged $130 — a full $100 extra from what the receipt shows. The restaurant then claimed he “picked up the wrong order” and that it was a $130 order… but how is that the customer’s fault when he gave the correct name and they handed him food and rang him up?
When I called back about the $100 overcharge, the woman screamed, told me I’d have to bring the food back “if it hadn’t been touched,” and then repeatedly hung up when I asked for a refund for the extra $100. She even told me not to call back because she was “busy.” Also—she seriously suggested taking back food that had been in a customer’s possession for 4 hours?
This whole situation felt incredibly fishy and unprofessional. We ended up giving the food away because we didn’t want to waste it.
Between the cleanliness concerns in the reviews and this overcharge + hostile customer service, I strongly recommend avoiding this place.

I am in the habit of reviewing everything, and as a reviewer, I make it a point to read reviews for restaurants before I order anything. The reviews I saw were pretty good, with the exception of two. I ordered the sesame chicken with fried rice and the fried wings with fried rice and sweet and sour soup. The food was well seasoned, hot, and better than I expected. However, the fried wings were not what I’m used to…they could learn something from the carryout restaurants in Washington DC where the wings are fried well and are absolutely delicious. The spring roll was one of the best I’ve had in a while. I will definitely patronize this place in the near future. Just work on those wings…go to DC as a secret shopper and try the wings at virtually every carryout to get an idea of how it’s done. The wings caused the loss of one star.

I ordered from this restaurant from DoorDash. I ordered 2 entrees and a side if rice and Asian donuts. The food was good until we got to the donuts. We ate about 8 of the 10 and as I picked up the second to last one there was a big. This is revolting and disgusting! My girlfriend immediately spit hers out and went to hurl.

It arrives 20 mins after ordering. Is that fast and weird? A little – but after 4 beers it doesn’t matter. This is 90s Chinese takeout and we’re here for it. Delicious, kinda suspicious, ultra fast chinese delivery when you’ve had 6 miller lights on a Friday night.

Staff is very rude, They also keep all their packets of soy and duck sauce behind the counter i always order over 30$ of food & you only get one packet of each anything more they charge you for, They have a sign on the door that says they take American express so that was the only card i brought one day, The lady spent 5 mins asking if i had a different card & how the machine dosent take American Express I then told her to cancel my order cause I have no other payment she went and swipe the card and it worked just fine. This place is just full of nonstop BS and like I said they are all very rude and cheap.

We found pieces of HAIR in ALL our orders. We called & tried informing the lady that answered but she don’t seem to care.
Me – “we found hair in our food”
Lady – “Theres hair in your food?”
“Yes”
“go call uber eats”
Not even an apology or anything. It wasn’t a concern for her. The food is also very mid.
If you do order from here, good luck picking out the pieces of hair and risking some unknown disease.

I have been coming to New China for over 30 years. It has the best Chinese carry out food in the area. My favorites: Hot and Sour soup, Hunan Chicken, and Mooshi Chicken. I highly recommend this gem of a Chinese carry out!
