Food was excellent and Steve took great care of us at the bar.
The service was rushed and I was given a box within minutes of being served. So I took it home and put it in a pie shell with cheese to bake and voila – beautifully delicious!
Also, all three cocktails our table got were nearly undrinkable especially the coconut margarita (it tasted like 95% lime juice).
I really wanted for this to become my new go to for a creative dinner on the South Shore, but it is not quite there yet (more appetizing presentation and better drinks) – maybe when I visit again later this summer it will be!
The stand out of this meal though was the seafood martini appetizer. My partner and I would both go back for just a drink and a seafood martini, for sure. Get it!
Had the guava margarita. It was good, but in the sweet side for a marg. My partner ordered a blueberry sour beer.
I like this place’s commitment to local ingredients.
The bar was beautiful. The seating was comfortable and not too cramped for a little place. We went in around 8 and waited a few minutes for a spot. I try not to go eat the last hour of any place being open as a courtesy to the staff, but we were not the last to be seated. One downside to going ends of day is that they run out of things. None of our picks were out, but I over heard the 86 list and it was…long. I suppose that’s a good thing! Less waste and enough demand to run out.
Our server Jake was smiling & friendly. We enjoyed glasses of quality wines (organic SB from NZ & nice Napa Pinot Noir) that paired well with Chicken Paillard & House Steak.
If you ❤️ to share a dessert with great decaf ☕️, I highly recommend Candace’s Wine Cake with caramel sauce drizzled over cake & whipped cream! I haven’t eaten a homemade sponge this good at a restaurant in years. I will return to try apps & save room for this dessert!
While I don’t doubt the fact that the food was farm to table, everything tasted pretty lackluster. The menu listed out amazing descriptions, but it fell flat. I was hoping for my mind to be blown. While it wasn’t necessarily bad food, for a place promoting “creative” food options, it seemed average. The truffle fries were pretty solid though and I know a good truff fry when I see it.
The service was a little slow, but I would like to believe that is because everything is made fresh. The waitstaff was very kind. In the end I was just hoping for more out of it.
We ordered the charcuterie board as we sat down. Good but it was a bit on the pricey side for what we got.
Drinks were subpar. Coconut margarita was ALL lime juice and just a hint of coconut and couldn’t taste the tequila. The pride day drink special was missing something which we couldn’t put our finger on.
For dinner we ordered fish and chips. Good except the fish was thin and dry. Fries were good.
The buffalo spaghetti squash Mac and cheese tasted good but presented as a plate of orangey brown pile of slop. We took most of it home. Yesterday I put it in a pie crust, mixed in a simple egg custard, covered it with cheese and baked it. It turned out delicious!! My suggestion would be to work on the presentation of this dish. Serve it in a crock or bowl with melted cheese on top or in a simple pie crust. The last thing we ordered was the veggie wrap. It was simple but delicious.
Will we return? Of course. We will try it again.
