Bulfinch Taphouse was great! We went for lunch right around opening and people were starting to file in. Greeted kindly and quickly and enjoyed all interactions with staff. They have a large selection of fun drinks with fun names so you are certainly able to find something you like. The food was great, with a special shout-out to the fried pickles, which were competing in our hearts for best in town. Atmosphere was relaxed, with a long bar and as decent amount of seating for a smaller space. Enjoy!!

My brother & I stopped in shortly after they opened on October 17th, 2025. We grabbed a couple seats at the far end of the bar. There were a number of staff moving around performing various duties. We waited patiently at least 5 minutes until somebody finally acknowledged us and asked if they could get us anything. We said yes and requested 2 beers. We then waited another 5 minutes. The waitress appeared to have completely forgotten about us.
We decided to move down to the other end of the bar. We waited there for another 10 minutes. All around us, people were just waiting. Waiting for drinks, waiting for food, waiting to be seated, waiting for who knows what. Finally, my brother asks a waiter who was cleaning out some glasses, “What do you have to do to get a beer around here?” The waiter misinterpreted the question and started describing their contact and how they go about ordering supplies.
Everyone on staff appeared to be putting forth the effort, but needed serious training. We did eventually get a beer, and we even stayed for another. I have not been back and probably won’t anytime soon. I can only hope things have improved.

This is my new favorite spot. I haven’t tried a beer I didn’t like yet. The food has been great. And the service and staff have been amazing.

I’d love to share my thoughts on the food, but never made it there. Walked in and stood at the hostess stand where we waited. And waited. And waited. The bartender looked up several times and went back to standing and staring down at the counter. Several members of the kitchen staff stopped at the kitchen door and looked at us, but made no indication they were getting anyone. A lone server walked by and said “I’d seat you, but I just clocked out” (!!!!)
Finally the same server came back and said, “I’ll seat you so you can get out of the doorway.”
Didn’t bother to explain any specials or drinks or anything which was unfortunate because I haden’t been there yet. Anyway, at this point a different server for the room came out and went to the table next to us however she conveniently kept her back to us the entire time as she rotated around getting follow-up drink orders. I tried to get her attention, but without being rude and screaming at her there wasn’t anyway to do so. We didn’t see her again until she brought out that tables orders, one of which a customer promptly sent back to the kitchen. This whole time a gentleman whom I believe is the owner because I’ve met him before was standing with a large group who was seated in the back corner carrying on a conversation. At this point another couple walked in and the bartender immediately walked them over to their seats and explained the menu. She waited about 5 minutes and went back to their table to ask if they were ready to order, meanwhile we still hadn’t even been asked if we wanted drinks or spoken to a person since the initial off-duty server. At this point we decided to get up and leave and not one person said anything and everybody including the gentleman in the back just stared at us as we walked out. We unfortunately will not be back.

I had lunch here for the first time yesterday, and it was very good. I ordered the Mare Nostrum wrap with grilled chicken with a side of fries, both of which were delicious. I normally don’t eat fries, but I couldn’t resist these!
Also, the staff was great! Our server was super nice and attentive. I’ll definitely eat here again–I think I need to taste everything on the menu!

Unfortunately, the entire experience was less than acceptable. From the time spent waiting for a table, to water without ice (?), to waitstaff even acknowledging us, to no utensils at the table, to wrong food delivered to food that was overcooked, room temp and basically nothing I would want a customer to eat. I know it’s early in their time there but they want to be a bar first that serves food second. They also have BIG shoes to fill.

You have to visit Bulfinch. The food was great. Had an Irish burger which was fantastic. A plate of Grande Nachos were piled high. The beer was superb. You have to to try Orbs of Influence. Dave is a ln excellent Master Brewer! Samantha provided excellent service and was very friendly. Will definitely be back. Cheers.
