The food was absolutely amazing. I don’t leave reviews but I had to for this place. The food was all made from scratch and the vegetables were all fresh. The fresh made tortillas were the best tortillas I’ve ever had. The meat was all tender, juicy, and full of perfect flavor. The pupusas were amazing and the fresh made salsa were perfect. The owner made me feel welcome and at home. He was sincere and proud of the food they served. This is a rare gem that deserves to be supported in every way possible. Make the trip and check them out!

Stopped here off the highway on our way home from Joshua tree, so glad we randomly found it on Google maps – best meal we’ve had out in recent history and the best salsa and chips we’ve had, hands down (we live here in California). We loved the salsa verde so much the waitress brought us their other house salsas to try: the salsa macha and diabla – wow! The sopes were light, fluffy, the perfect vessels for all the flavor on top. They brought us dessert on the house – everything was made fresh and you could tell. Happy, friendly service; all around felt like we just wanted to be fed, like eating in a family home. Just wish we lived closer so we could come back sooner!

Wow! What a great surprise!! The pupusas were amazing as were the tacos. Their homemade tortillas were off the hook. If you’re wanting great food, made from scratch.. here’s your sign!

The low ratings for this place are a joke. Currently 4.8 and even if just on the back of the food, well deserved. Friendly family establishment. Love seeing families come together to run a business and especially one with food as good as this. Thank you so much for the amazing pit stop on our road trip. Stay in business for the next time we come through please!

Amazing food and service. We were on our way to Las Vegas and we stopped in Boron for lunch. The food was tasty. The owners were extremely nice and gave us different sauces and even a small pineapple juice cup as courtesy. Very recommended!

Quick google search getting off the freeway led us here and did not disappoint. Not locals but wish we were. Apparently under new management. The owner was very attentive and friendly, everything from the chips and salsa, water and food were ALL fresh and delicious and very reasonably priced. Had the al pastor torta and variety of Salvadorian pupusas. Delicious!

For those of you who are not familiar with Boron, CA, it’s a little town out in the middle of the Mojave desert, on 20 Mule Team road, east of Tehachapi, and West of Kramer Junction. There is a restaurant there that has changed hands more times than I can count over the past ten years. The last time I was there, it was closed. Today, Lou and I noticed that it’s open and under new management. We stopped in to take our lunch. The menu included traditional Salvadoran food options as well as Mexican and American fare. We were surprised when we received a complimentary hors d’oeuvre. I enjoyed the pork and vegetable Pupusa with spicy, shredded cabbage vinaigrette. Lou had a burger with the works. We had a wonderful conversation with the owner and his wife, and they sent us on our way with a complimentary, traditional Salvadoran citrus and cucumber refreshment.
PROS
Hometown feel
Breadth of menu
Food freshness, portions, seasoning
Dining area and bathroom cleanliness
Rustic, desert cafe atmosphere
Price
CONS
Inadequate air conditioning

If you’re ever in Boron, California, do yourself a favor and stop by Rincon Latino!! This charming Latino restaurant is a true gem, offering not just amazing food but an equally warm and inviting experience.
Their drinks are a refreshing highlight—vibrant and full of flavor. I enjoyed a variety of unique beverages, including a tropical mango and pineapple mix, a crisp cucumber and chia seed drink, and a creamy horchata with rice, milk, and cinnamon. Each one was perfectly balanced and undeniably refreshing.
For my meal, I ordered the chicken tacos which I wanted one soft-shell taco and one hard-shell taco. The star of the show here is the handmade touch—everything from the tortillas to the fillings is prepared fresh, and you can taste the love and care in every bite.
The decor of the restaurant is just as delightful as the food. The retro vibe of the space, complete with beautiful turquoise chairs, adds a unique and cozy charm.
But what truly sets Rincon Latino apart is the owners. They are some of the kindest and most generous people you’ll meet, going out of their way to ensure their customers have a wonderful experience. Their warmth and dedication shine through in everything they do, from the food to the service.
I can’t recommend Rincon Latino enough. Whether you’re passing through Boron, California or a local looking for an authentic and heartwarming dining experience, this restaurant is a must-visit!

We were coming down from Barstow very familiar with the area and wanted pupusas unfortunately the low rating is simply based on the servers terrible attitude and his lack of bringing anything to the table. Pretty sure this guy hated his life overall I will not be returning. I’m glad we stuck to the basics to try the food out and not spend more because service was crap. We didn’t get napkins, refills etc only people in the restaurant and the gentlemen/severer acted as we were a bother by ordering and asking questions. Take your business next door Where the owners are glad people are coming in to support their business. The lady overall was nice but she only
acknowledged us as we left- your already in the middle of no where.. you want people to return not say let’s never go back there again.
