The ambience and the service was over the line.
Outstanding service and an exceptionally clean restaurant. My server, Elba, was fantastic—very attentive and friendly. The location is newly built with a modern design, which makes the dining experience even better.
Highly recommended!
Thank you Kevin for accommodating us!
Also so much better than the Denny’s across the street!
But most importantly, the customer service is outstanding every time we go to this location. Our waiter today was Kevin and if anyone knows their menu it’s Kevin. I’d rate his service as A+. Thanks again IHOP staff.
I recently tried the new IHOP in Palatine twice—first via delivery and then dining in—and the experiences were night and day.
Delivery (5/5):
Ordering online through the IHOP website (using my gift card) was smooth, and my food arrived quickly via DoorDash. Everything was hot, fresh, and exactly as expected. No complaints at all!
Dine-In (1/5):
Unfortunately, my in-restaurant experience was one of the worst I’ve had in a long time. The service was disorganized, and our server—who seemed new and poorly trained—struggled with basic tasks. Here’s what went wrong:
– Ordering Issues: He didn’t know how to input our order correctly, leading to mistakes (we ordered the **Fisherman’s Platter** but only received a partial, incorrect fish platter).
– Coupon Problems: He couldn’t apply my free short-stack pancake coupon and had to get help, causing delays.
– Missing & Incorrect Items: We had to repeatedly ask for basics like napkins, butter, creamer, and water (which he only brought one glass of at first).
– Food Quality: The fish from the Fisherman’s Platter was overcooked and served in a bowl without tartar sauce. When we asked for sauce, we were told they *ran out* (!). The shrimp plate was initially taken away, then brought back with a “you can eat this while you wait” response—very odd.
The only positives? The rest of the food (aside from the fish) was hot and tasted good, matching the quality of my delivery order.
Final Thoughts:
If you’re craving IHOP in Palatine, *stick to delivery or to-go orders*. The dine-in experience was a mess—understaffed, undertrained, and frustrating. Hopefully, management improves training soon, because this location has potential if service catches up.
Its hard to trust the kitchen is sanitary and up to standards when surrounded by tables stacked with dishes needing to be cleared and washed.
Hopefully this improves.
Bro… Ihop is actually trash never again. At least for the breakfast I actually thought the breakfast was gonna be decent cause they had a variety of pancake flavors but nah man I got the pancake meal and so bad! Like you would expect this place to actually have decent food since it’s a breakfast/diner place but NO. I guess I got what I paid for it was like 13$ for the meal but even then bro I could’ve gone to Dennys across the street and would’ve been better… I’ll give it one more chance but idk don’t have high hopes… and this place is NEW TOO BTW and customer service wasn’t that good.. I was trying to think what I liked about it but genuinely nothing.
have had better cafeteria food than this…bland food stingy portions
