Fern & Aurora has been on my bucket list for quite some time. I visited on a Sunday afternoon and was pleasantly surprised by all the variety of desserts they had to offer. I was told by the staff that the Ube Basque Cheesecake and their donuts were particularly popular. My boyfriend and I ended up getting one of the cheesecakes and donuts, as well as a matcha latte and a seasonal drink.

The desserts were fabulous. The cheesecake was so delicious and the texture was so soft and delicate. The donut was also not too sweet which I appreciated. I also really love how they told me they don’t add sweetners to their matcha, I could just tell that the staff really loved what they were creating and felt pride in the shop.

Overall, I highly recommend stopping by. It’s such a quaint and lovely place, perfect for a quick bite or to take some delicious desserts home. I’ll definitely be back soon!

This is a small neighborhood bakery located right next the the railroad tracks. It has a small parking lot behind it. The prices are on the high side. The croissant was flaky and airy but not at $5. The Basque cheese cake was creamy but had an almond extract taste. It was quite heavy and stuck to the parchment paper. The calamansi tart was good but not tart enough for me. The sable crust was very sweet especially with the meringue. The tiramisu had just a hint of coffee and was a traditional tiramisu, used lady fingers. I loved the Bicho Bicho, sugar donut. It was light and airy and not too sweet. I don’t think I would go back unless it’s for the donut.

✨NYC Hidden Gem Alert✨

On my trip to New York City, I stumbled into the cutest little French-style bakery—Aurora and Fern—and I’m so glad I did. The walls are pink, the art is playful, and the whole vibe feels cozy and welcoming, like you’ve stepped into a storybook café.

The pastries? Incredible. The head chef is French-trained, and you can taste it—flaky croissants, delicate tarts, and treats that are as beautiful as they are delicious. I paired mine with a latte, and honestly, it was one of those small travel moments I’ll remember forever.

What makes this place extra special is how family-friendly it is. They have a free little library, coloring books for kids, and plenty of space for families to relax. It’s rare to find a spot in NYC that feels this thoughtful and welcoming for everyone.

Aurora and Fern is the perfect mix of chic + cozy, with a touch of European charm right in the city. If you’re looking for a fun, unique stop that feels like a local secret, this is it.

We passed by the lirr station and saw this bakery. It looks like a local normal bakery but it looks cute inside.
Every pastry item look delicious and we want to try all. However, we are not so hungry. We tried the Ham + Gruyere Quiche, ube basque and crookie. The egg inside the quiche tastes delicious but the pastry crust is a bit salty. The crookie is a bit hard if it’s not warm up. The ube basque is the best. We can taste the ube and it’s creamy smooth.
We also ordered the hot ube matcha. But the staff took a long time to serve it and it’s cold. That’s disappointing. We didn’t ask her to remake one because we saw the staff was busy cleaning up the spill on the table . So don’t bother.
We will come next time, hopefully she can do better.

Stopped here for a quick coffee waiting for the train and what a delight!
The ube cheesecake was delicious and rich and not overly sweet which was great. The cashier and baker were incredibly kind and sweet.
Decor inside was super cute! Definitely worth a stop. Everything is made fresh every day!

I saw this bakery snuggled away while driving past it & knew I had to return. The inside is nice & clean. It’s Filipino style desserts which is lovely. They have a large selection of dessert items to choose from.

On the weekend’s they sellout fast so get here early. I had their Banana bread loaf which was my favorite of everything. It was so soft and warm, wish I’d gotten more of it.
The burnt basque cheesecake was nice & decadent. The BonBons were absolute perfection. They have a seasonal and rotating menu which always has something delicious to offer.

They have these adorable boxes to pack the food in with a colorful pink theme. The staff is kind & helpful. They have a small lot to park your car in which is appreciated. I’ve honestly never been to a dessert shop such as Fern & Aurora, it’s a nice change from the regular ole baked goods. I highly recommend everybody to come check them out.

Edit: finally tried the strawberry matcha and I’m obsessed! I personally don’t drink anything sweet. The matcha was unsweetened which balance so well with the strawberry jam

Obsessed with the dessert, especially the ube butter mochi! It usually sells out in the morning. Recommending going early

Very disappointed at the 4.9 rating. Bought a small vanilla strawberry cake to bring to a friend house because it looks so pretty with the floral buttercream decor. When the host cut it, and we all took a bite, we had to spit it back out because it’s very obvious it’s not fresh, like it’s from yesterday. The cake was not smooth. The moist of the cake is from the overnight strawberries which looks very unappetizing. Such a waste to throw the whole cake away. And such embarrassment for me to bring this nasty cake to a friends house. $25. Plus taxes, came out to be almost $28. I was expecting much better from a 4.9 rating bakery. Please look into this matter and hope you can make a better experience for other customers. Because I am not going back.

Located across the street of the Little Neck stop of the LIRR, is Fern and Aurora, a Filipino inspired bakery which just opened this past Wednesday. I’m hardly ever in this part of Queens but made a point of trying them out after I read about this bakery in a local Queens newspaper.

The bakery offers some familiar items but with Filipino flavors (ube, kalamansi, and macapuno, just to name a few). Clearly baked in small batches, these artisanal desserts are priced slightly high but so worth it in my opinion. Everything we ordered today was quite good.

I got some hand painted Bonbons (Kalamansi, Ube, Buko Pandan and Jasmine Blossom), a small Basque Cheesecake, Macapuno and Ube Brioche Donut, Strawberry and Macapuno Cream Croffle, and a Banana Bread.

The Donut was not overly sweet, had a slightly crunchy exterior from the sugar coating and fluffy texture inside. It was crammed with whipped ube cream. Really delicious. The Cheesecake had the perfect creamy silky texture. The Croffle was flaky and not overly sweet. The Banana Bread was wonderful with their cold brew. And my favorite dessert (from what we ordered) was the “Forrest” which consisted of chocolate cake base, hazelnut cream, pistachio garnish and a “mushroom” make out of hazelnut cream dipped in white chocolate. This dessert was outstanding and very creative; the mushroom looks very real! It’s presented in a small pot and you eat it with a small shovel (so cute).

We visited the café on Friday and then actually came back the next day to get more of the “Forrest” dessert. I’m sort of glad I don’t live nearby, otherwise I’d be here every day just for that dessert.

A cute little Filipino-inspired cafe with pastries and sweets nearby without having to trek to the other side of queens. On a weekday, there isn’t much of a selection but I was told the good stuff is made on the weekends. I would have to come back on a weekend to see for myself. I got pan de sal, ube cheesecake, and monkey bread recommended by staff. The ube cheesecake is very creamy. I prefer to eat that cold because it gives the top part of the cheesecake a slight crunchy texture since it doesn’t have the crumbly bottom like other cheesecakes. The monkey bread was quite delicious. It goes well with a hot coffee. I got an iced coffee and hot coffee both with ube cream. Note to self: add sugar next time. The ube cream gave the hot coffee an ube taste however, didn’t really taste it with the iced coffee since the foam sat on the top. Even mixed, couldn’t quite taste it all that well compared to the hot coffee. I was eyeing the halo-halo but it was just too early for it. I will have to go back for that as well. Overall, I do think it is quite expensive but the quality of the food isn’t bad at all. I will be revisiting again and it’s so conveniently located next to the LIRR.
