The service was impeccable. Our server was attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely enthusiastic about the menu, offering insightful recommendations that truly enhanced our dining experience.
As for the food—each dish was a masterpiece. The ribeye was perfectly cooked, juicy, and bursting with flavor, showcasing a beautiful sear that locked in its rich taste. The fried chicken was crispy on the outside while tender and succulent on the inside, seasoned to perfection. The pork belly was a standout, with its melt-in-your-mouth texture and a savory glaze that complemented every bite. The crispy rice was amazing as well.
We ended our meal with the chocolate dessert, which was nothing short of fantastic. It was rich, decadent, and the perfect sweet note to conclude our feast.
Overall, Charlatam exceeded all expectations with its outstanding food, exceptional service, and charming ambience. I can’t wait to return.
We stopped in for a late lunch around 3ish, and from the moment we arrived the experience was exceptional.
There were three of us and we were seated at a table for four, which felt wonderfully spacious. Even after ordering several dishes, the table never felt crowded. The restaurant itself is beautifully put together with warm colors, stylish furniture, and an inviting atmosphere. The booths also deserve a mention ~they’re spacious and comfortable, unlike many that end up feeling tight. A detail I loved is that much of the kitchen is visible through glass, allowing you to watch the team preparing the dishes. Seeing the plates come together and then being handed directly to the servers as they’re finished adds such a wonderful sense of energy and transparency to the entire dining experience.
To start, we ordered the tequeños, which were absolutely delicious. Charlatam offers both a regular menu and a lunch special menu, giving diners great options.
For our meal we ordered:
• 8-piece fried chicken (they offer 4, 8, or 12 pieces)
• Two sides: cole slaw and yuca frita
• Chicken chaufa fried rice
• Caesar salad served in four wedges ~each wedge topped with its own large elongated toasted crouton, a really nice touch
• A small bowl of chicken consommé
Every single dish was delicious.
The fried chicken deserves special recognition. Without exaggeration, it is the best fried chicken I have ever had ~PERIOD. Perfectly crispy on the outside, incredibly juicy inside, and seasoned beautifully. They offer sauces on the side, but honestly we didn’t even consider using them. The chicken was absolute perfection on its own. The flavor reminded me of the kind of perfectly seasoned cooking you remember from abuelas back in the day ~comforting, authentic, and unforgettable. One bite in and the table went quiet ~that’s how good it was.
The yuca frita was crisp and flavorful, the cole slaw fresh and balanced, and the chicken chaufa fried rice was packed with flavor. The Caesar salad was fresh and beautifully presented, and those individual elongated croutons were a great detail. Even the chicken consommé was comforting and well prepared.
For dessert we ordered the Venezuelan quesillo, which was the perfect sweet ending ~smooth, rich, and delicious.
Charlatam also has a full bar with bar seating, though we opted to enjoy what we jokingly called “Brickell’s finest water.”
Another detail worth mentioning: the restroom was impeccably clean, which always says a lot about a restaurant.
The service truly stood out. The staff were attentive, professional, and genuinely welcoming. We were taken care of by two brothers—one of whom doesn’t always work at this location and is sometimes borrowed from another of their bro’ restaurants. I wish I had caught their names because they absolutely deserve recognition. They were A+ at what they do and made the experience even better.
Simply put: the food, the place, and the service were impeccable. Miami needs more places like this.
If you find yourself anywhere near Brickell and appreciate truly great food & exceptional service, do yourself a favor and visit Charlatam ~you’ll leave planning your next visit before you even reach the door.
