They didn’t have it on the menu but they made it!! Delicious soft shell crab sandwich!! Staff was great, fries were hot, and the tea was sweet!! More people need to know about this hole-in-the-wall! The place is clean and the food is amazing!!!

Baker’s is one of those restaurants that always makes you feel at home. The owners are so kind, all of the staff is wonderful, and the menu is all your favorite comfort foods — and SO good. My dad and I both ordered the chicken and pastry and it did not disappoint. The dessert menu is 12/10, I’ve tried almost everything LOL. Also thought it was so cute and festive for Valentine’s Day! Love supporting local business and can’t wait to come back 🙂

From the moment we sat down, our waitress made the evening unforgettable with her warm smile and attentive charm. She greeted us like old friends, patiently explaining the menu’s highlights and checking in just enough to keep things seamless without hovering. Her genuine enthusiasm for the spot shone through, turning a simple meal into a feel-good outing. We left feeling truly cared for.
The food? Pure bliss. The BBQ plate was smoky perfection, tender and bursting with flavor, while the chicken salad sandwich delivered creamy, crisp bites that melted in your mouth. Sides stole the show too: tangy coleslaw, creamy potato salad, golden hush puppies with a satisfying crunch, and onion rings that were crispy outside, juicy within. Every forkful was a Southern dream. We’ll be back soon.

This is my own opinion and experience. My husband and I went for lunch. I was pleasantly surprised with the quality of food. From the burger my husband ate to the cold cut I had. Food ingredients were fresh, meats were tasty. Very clean atmosphere. I definitely will go back but next time for breakfast. I do recommend this restaurant.

This place came highly recommended so while recently on a visit to my son, who is a local there, we decided to give it a try. I went with a breakfast option, and since I was visiting the south, I had to try their biscuits and gravy. So good! A “side” of bacon must’ve been at least six pieces!
My son tried the club sandwich and raved about it!
There were honestly so many good things on the menu. It was hard to decide!
He Is lucky, he’s a local and can go back anytime!
And, oh my… The prices! Fantastic! Such a value! If you are local to Jacksonville, North Carolina, you have to give this place a try!

First time here. Food took 45 minutes to come out (only one other table was there) and when it did come out the food was stone cold. Ended up leaving. Our waitress was nice, but did not communicate with us at all in that 45 minutes. It was an egg breakfast.

I do not enjoy giving bad reviews but this time, I just can’t help it. Ordered flounder, fries and hush puppies. I can’t imagine that anyone would consider this as good food. Flounder was dried out and way overcooked – same for hush puppies. Fries were served barely warm, limp, greasy and undercooked. Definitely not a good experience.

We have been going to Baker’s forever. Apparently, it is now under new management… I ordered the BBQ and Chicken plate, which was delicious. It was not the traditional Eastern Carolina BBQ or Southern Fried Chicken. Don’t get me wrong. It was delicious, it just wasn’t the traditional recipe. The BBQ was very smoky and the sauce was thick. The fried chicken was very good. Again, not like a traditional Southern Fried Chicken Recipe, but it was very good. My husband ordered beef tips, but they were served dry… He ate it anyway. While the ambiance is still the same, the server was nice and attentive. The food was served hot. If you have gone to Baker’s a long time ago, do not expect the food to be prepared the same way.

Today we spent several hours in the heat burning limbs and debris, and doing yardwork at our inherited property in Jacksonville. We were famished so we stopped for dinner at Baker’s Restaurant on Richlands Hwy in Jacksonville and it was excellent! We got 2 catfish dinners with 2 sides each and 2 sweet teas for only $38.00. The food was super hot and tasty, they gave us 2 large catfish each, and they give a 4% discount if you pay with cash!! The sweet tea was also very good!
