The Aloha Friday special for the prime rib loco moco at midtown eat location was not entirely satisfactory. In fact, it was the least enjoyable prime rib loco moco I have experienced. The meat was shredded and had a very salty taste. I would advise against selecting this special, particularly if you do not prefer extra salty, shredded meat. However, I can highly recommend their lobster rolls, which I consider to be the finest on the island.

Ordered the lobster roll for the first time….tasted good. Soft roll and lots of lobster in it. Came with French fries…which were crispy, which was a good thing. Gotta try the bento next time I come in. If your in Manoa, come check em out.

We went to try salt beef watercress soup which was recently featured on Honolulu Magazine in Jan 2026. When we went, the waitress told us the menu was changed and they didn’t serve the soup anymore. She actually didn’t have clue what we were talking about. I don’t know how long she worked there, but if the soup was so famous, people would have ordered a lot and she would have know. We decided to try lobster roll. It was fine. It wasn’t excellent to make me want to come back. Green salad didn’t have much effort put it in. Greens were hugely cut. The amount and taste were not worth the money. Service was not impressive. Overall, meh~.

Haven’t been able to visit in a while until today. Was sad to find out a lot of their previous items, like the lechon and salt meat soup, are not being offered currently. Feast Manoa still has a good menu selection they do have daily specials. Had the Bento Special (hamburger steak, garlic chicken karaage and chili) and the Catch of the Day (Broiled salmon fillet with ginger scallion sauce). Still, As always, Excellent! Manoa location has a nice neighborhood atmosphere and the price is reasonable! Will try the Keeaumoku Ala Moana location soon!

Went to the “FEAST” by Chef Jon Matsubara, a well known established chef who is local Japanese kamaaina, attended Punahou and wanted to be a lawyer originally, but ended up becoming a well known executive chef on the East coast and then in Hawaii. I am from Waialae-Kahala area and wanted to support a Punahou alumni and I have great tastes in food and enjoy establishments especially run by an executive chef managing owner.
I ordered the Hilo hamburger steak plate with 2 oz. extra mushroom gravy on the side and umami mac potato salad. It comes with 2 scoop rice of course as the starch.
I also got 2x sambal chili sauce and chili peppa water.
Prices are reasonable considering Chef Matsubara is a well established and experienced chef in Oahu. Employee on the phone was pleasant I called to let them know I was coming down for pickup. I went in the restaurant and it’s a nice place and I saw Jon there and made small talk with him. He’s a cool guy and had a good conversation with him and he got to know my background and I got to know his. I am also in the food service industry having a business of our own also, so I know how it is with the trials and tribulations of running a restaurant.
I found the “Feast” on the YouTube channel “Where Hawaii eats” with Anne Lee. Also saw him do interviews associated with “Sysco” food service which is where we also patronize. I didn’t know he had a restaurant, but knew he was a chef with the greats of Alan Wong and others. He apprenticed under the great Alan Wong some time ago. He has a diverse background in the culinary industry starting from the East coast and down to Hawaii. He was the executive chef at the 40 carrots restaurant in Nordstrom awhile back and some other establishments.
So yeah it was a great privilege talking with him that alone was worth going all the way down to Manoa.
So I got home and tried the hamburger steak it was very good one of the best I had. The patty was soft and big island local beef which is better than mainland beef and why support mainland conglomerates, we should be supporting our local kamaaina establishments here that’s our kuleana.
The mushroom gravy was awesome, best I had it is a dark brown gravy. I could eat that over only rice that’s how good it was. Mac salad was good too with plenty flavor. Their thanksgiving feast meals is also highly recommended.
I enjoyed my meal and will be supporting and patronizing the “Feast” as much as I can. You guys should come here and support this local business with chef experienced cooking

Online ordering was very easy and I ordered my food the night before. I opted to get text updates but only got an update that my food will be 15 mins later than the original pick up time I had chosen. I did not get a message that my food was ready so I just walked in the restaurant and they already had my package sitting in the pick up area.

It was my first time eating a lobster roll sandwich so I really don’t have anything compared to, but it was yummy and made me want to try lobster rolls from other restaurants! My parents also liked the chicharrones. However, I wasn’t a fan of JFC…. it seemed dry and the chicken was a little tough. I would visit the restaurant again to try their burger and other dishes!

So far, in my top 3 of lobster rolls on the island. Also went on Cheese Steak Saturday. I’m not sure if it’s an every Saturday special or a hit or miss. Either way, it was delicious! It was made with good quality steak and a ton of gooey melty cheese! I wish the lobster roll was a little more meaty for the price, so that’s why it gets a one star hit. Both sandwiches came with well seasoned shoestring style fries. They are a hit, but you have to eat them fresh because they cool quickly! All in all, I look forward to going back to try the other stuff on the menu!

Lobster Roll pretty good. Nice chunks of claws in there with a subtle dressing. Straight forward sandwich. Not a shoe string fries guy myself but at least it came with it. I liked what they’re doing with the menu and adaptive service. Menu is nice and simple and I will continue to support. Good job guys and good luck!
