Reviews
The menu leans heavily toward fried seafood. We went with the seafood platter, which included shrimp, fish nuggets, a fish fillet, scallops, frog legs (we skipped those), and a hush puppy. We also ordered onion rings on the side.
Highlights:
• Generous portions and quick service on a Saturday night.
• Friendly staff and a family-owned vibe.
• Their house tartar sauce is tasty.
• Fried food but not overly greasy.
• The white fish and fish nuggets were the best of the bunch—we’d order those again.
Not so great:
• The onion rings were the only real letdown. The portion was huge (about $9.95), but the batter was thin and undercooked, leaving the onions a bit raw and bland.
Price-wise, two of us ate for about $65 with tip, and we had enough leftovers for another meal, which feels very reasonable.
Overall, was this the best seafood I’ve ever had? No. But can I see why it’s been a Louisville staple for a century? Absolutely. It’s a fun, casual spot with generous portions, great for groups, especially if the weather is nice and you can sit outside at the picnic tables.
Service is excellent.
Food is tasty. Mostly variations on fried chicken and fish either on a sandwich or on a plate. Many non-fried options as well. Portions are quite generous – come hungry!
The patio is wonderful for outdoor seating and parties. Great bar area.
