We had the pleasure of talking to Frankie about his journey opening his ramen shop while we were there, too. His passion for ramen is obvious and it shows in the food he creates. He sources everything as locally as possible and you can taste the difference. The bar is a fun spot to hang out in, too. A win-win all around. We will definitely be back.
The chef makes everything by hand, the dumplings are amazing..
I drank all of the broth and thats not like me..
If you want the best bowl of ramen in Charleston, get in here!
I live in the Toronto area and have ramen regularly, and Frankie’s is as good or better than any I’ve had. The broth is substantive and layered in flavour, you want to drink it. Everything else is cooked perfectly (noodles not overcooked, pork tender, egg yolky and delicious). Paired great with a pint or two from the front of house.
I never thought I’d have an amazing bowl of ramen in a cowboy bar, but that’s Charleston for you. 10/10, would recommend, and will return. Thanks Frankie!
The chef, Frankie, is pretty amazing! He has a passion for cooking and it shows! He’s also very personable.
Try this place, you won’t regret it if you like good ramen!
I stopped by with my best man and another close friend on a Wednesday night, and it turned out to be the perfect hump day treat. We ordered the Shio Ramen (pork) along with dumplings, and everything was made completely from scratch.
The ramen was absolutely delicious—savory and flavorful, yet surprisingly light. The broth had this delicate balance with a touch of lemon that made it stand out from any ramen I’ve had before. The dumplings were just as satisfying and clearly prepared with care.
What made the night even more memorable was meeting the chef and owner. He personally came to our table, and his passion for the craft was inspiring. Learning that he studied in Japan for 18 days straight, perfecting his skills, gave so much depth to the experience. Even more exciting—he shared that the larger restaurant is still under construction, and there are plenty of surprises he’s planning to unveil soon.
The concept of hosting his residency inside Frontier Lounge is brilliant. The space itself has such a cool mix—vintage charm with a western edge—that made it a fun and unique setting to enjoy a bowl of ramen.
For just $25 with tip, this meal was worth every penny. I’m so excited to see Frankie’s journey unfold and can’t wait to come back. Wishing Frankie all the success he deserves!
who knew I’d find the best Ramon in Charleston in the back of my favorite bar. Frankie himself is the sweetest, most down to earth man who really gets to know his customers.
Not only is Frankie great but the food is delicious. I usually always go with dumplings and a spicy ramen which is SOOOO flavorful. I just can’t get enough of it
