Wow! What an amazing experience. From the beautiful colors and presentation of the food, to every last bite on each plate-our entire meal was incredible. I could eat those beef cheek bone marrow tacos every day for the rest of my life and still never get tired of them-they’re THAT good. Service and atmosphere were also 10/10. Go try this unique gem!

Tlalli is absolutely phenomenal. I don’t do many reviews, but had to on this one. The food is wonderful, everyone is very friendly and inviting and the drinks are unique and well crafted. My wife and I were visiting Ashland for a few days and had dinner here on night 2 of our trip. After dinner we got a reservation for the next night to go back and canceled our reservation at a different restaurant.
I love mole and this place had the best mole I have ever had. Highly recommend the salsa flight and if they have it there was a salmon ceviche special that was amazing. I would visit Ashland again just to come here.

This place is amazing! I’ve been eating here every week, it’s that good! Their standard menu is anything but standard- it’s outstanding! Their ‘Specials’ are outstanding! Ashland has been waiting for a fabulous restaurant that has an exotic flair, outstanding food and drinks and is so impressive that it is packed every night! When you provide great food, awesome service, fab drinks, you don’t mind paying a little more! It’s worth every penny and worth waiting to get in! Book early!

Ashland has plenty of restaurants to choose from. However, only one, Tlalli, offers food prepared with ancestral Latin flavors and ingredients, all served by the owners and staff with years of experience. Manya and Freddie, co-owners oversee the dining and bar with a keen attention to you … the customer. Michelle did a great job serving us. All the corn is prepared using to ancient methods of alkalyzing. The exquisite jicama y maize salad is a great way to experience this. The cochinita pibil is a main course that pairs well with that salad. I asked Freddie for a red wine from South America and he introduced me to a very elegant Chilean red. Every table was taken when we were there, so make sure to call early for reservations.

We had heard great things about Tlalli and they did not disappoint! The staff was incredibly friendly, atmosphere was great and of course the food and drink was on point. Do try the salsa sampler as a starter, then you have them for your main as well. We also got the flautas, oxtail tacos and the pork shoulder. We enjoyed everything but if we had to pick one it would be the oxtail tacos. Tried a few cocktails and all were tasty as well.

Wow. For context I sat at the bar and was the only one at the bar but the restaurant was full. Business on a Sunday night was booming! And I understand why! Freddie, the owner was behind the bar. I asked for a drink recommendation and he nailed it. Then I asked for a vegetarian recommendation and “he nailed it”. Superb dish. I got the Tlalli Bowl and it was amazing. Freddie and his staff were top notch almost like going to grandmas house. Very accommodating and hospitable. The food was amazing and the service above and beyond.

We had a lovely dinner at Tlalli! They advertise to be a Latin American restaurant with emphasis on Indigenous ingredients and Afro-Caribbean influences. We started with a few excellent, flavorful cocktails. The rum in the punch took me straight to the Caribbean, with notes of coconut, pineapple, and hibiscus. My favorite cocktail was the Milpa Sour, with use of ancestral corn whiskey where unique lines of corn are cultivated, soaked in an alkaline solution, unlocking deeper flavors. It tasted smoky and strong.
For the starters, the tostadas and salsa provided a unique experience, coming with 9 different house salsas. It was fun to try each and try to understand what made them different. The ahi tostada was also fresh and delicious.
Out of the mains, the oxtail tacos were the star of the show. If you want the best of their entrees, that might be the one for you. We also got the braised pork shoulder, which came with beans, rice, and tortillas, but overall it lacked the depth of flavor that the oxtail had. Overall I wish we had more tostadas and tortillas to take on the salsas, guac, and pork shoulder. Seemed we were always running out.
It’s clear the restaurant has put a lot of thought into the food it wants to serve and has a strong sense of identity. I think that’s a big strength, making the experience special. I would say if you’re local it’s worth a visit. Revisiting the restaurant will probably be more for the social experience, and less for the food, as it’s tough envisioning landing a reservation for few good cocktails and tacos when it’s just you and the family.

Walking into Tlali feels like entering a portal out of Ashland and into a bumping city. The food is delicious, the drinks are amazing, the pink decor is so fun, and the people and vibes are incredible! Also, as someone with celiac, I am pleased that the entire kitchen is gluten free. Tlali is my favorite restaurant in Ashland!
