It is very common for large chains like Thai Express to occasionally tweak their recipes or sauces to appeal to a broader audience, which often results in things becoming a bit sweeter. On the bright side, I’m glad the Seafood Rice Curry was a hit; that’s a great pivot to make when the old reliable fails.
I was there recently. It’s gotten too expensive!
I think I got a bad serving too because I didn’t tip. I ended up with hard, overcooked, or re-cooked? inedible sprouts mixed in, 4 small pieces of chicken. in a soup of sauce.
Not normal. I’ve always enjoyed their food, but I’m done due to the current 2025 prices.
The thing that makes this restaurant stand out from the others is the service of the girl at the cash register and her calmness when I went to that restaurant a bunch of days ago. I should admit that she had outstanding patience.
When I was waiting for my turn, a lady in front of me was ordering, and she was clearly frustrated or on edge for some reason, even before reaching the register. She was repeating that I bought this food at another branch earlier, and why you don’t know what I want, like she was expecting the girl (cashier) to have a Crystal Ball, and she should know what she ordered in the other branch. Nonetheless, she showed patience and helped the lady. If I wanted to call names, that customer was the showcase for a KAREN.
Finally, once the girl at the cashier finished with the lady, I could get to order my food, and even though she was being mistreated for almost 5 minutes by the previous customer, she kept her composure and was polite and kind.
Frankly, the restaurant owners should give that girl a bonus for putting up with such people.
I think I found my preferred location when getting a General Thairacha!!
Thank you so much for the great meal!!
The above quote is taken from the side of the takeout container. It’s also how I feel about their Pad Thai. I love spicy chicken Pad Thai. Today I was at The Halifax Shopping Center when my craving hit. There was no line (unusual). My food took about as long as usual to prepare. I get a cup of peanuts with it and a set of chop sticks. Although it wasn’t as spicy as I like, it was one of the best I’ve had in a while.
Cons:
I’ve noticed they don’t seem to cut up the chicken very well and I find myself wanting a utensil to do it myself.
Otherwise I miss the blocks of tofu. I’ve got to remember to ask for it because I don’t seem to get any these days unless they are cutting it up so small that I don’t notice. I doubt this (see my 1st con)
NOTE: The hours were incorrectly listed when I wrote this. I’ve submitted corrections as the food court including Thai Express is open 9:30am-9:00pm Monday-Saturday
