Hōseki

  4.8 – 136 reviews   • Japanese restaurant

Meaning “gemstone” in Japanese, Hōseki is a minimalist jewel-box of a destination where guests can enjoy a one-of-a-kind gastronomic treat by Chef Masahiro Sugiyama. With just nine seats, dining at Hōseki is a unique Omakase experience, the most traditional way to savor Japanese food which means “I leave it to you”. After arriving through a special Tokonoma, or entry room, guests turn their palates over to the whims of the chef. Located on the 4th floor of the Resort, Hōseki is open for lunch and dinner and reservations are required. Hōseki was awarded one Michelin star by The Michelin Guide Dubai for 2 consecutive years since 2022 and 26th Best Restaurant on The World’s 50 Best Restaurants, Middle East & North Africa 2023.

We visited Höseki at the Bvlgari Hotel.
I wanted to eat the most delicious Sushi on a special occasion, so I decided to come again this year, like last year, at Christmas.

There is currently no other restaurant in Dubai where you can eat authentic Sushi.
Every piece of Sushi made by skilled chef Mr. Sugiyama is exquisite, and you can watch the chef’s skills right before your eyes.

It’s by no means cheap, but each piece of Sushi is made with a variety of techniques and ingenuity, making it the highest quality.
Of course, the non-Sushi dishes were also delicious and memorable.

Höseki attracted and made me want to visit again.
This wonderful restaurant is always changing and setting new standards in Dubai.

Reservations fill up quickly, so I recommend making them early.

This sushi restaurant offers some of the best sushi in Dubai. The ocean view is also very nice. While the rice and toppings are slightly small, the chef’s skill level is high.

Hoseki made the perfect backdrop for the most magical date of my life. Ready for round two ‍ .

Our chief was Mr. Ken, he was professional and answered all the questions regarding the food.

The staff were polite, sweet and paid attention to every detail, they even cover my bag and my labubu with napkins .

Thank you for the amazing dinner.

Best Japanese Omakase experience in Dubai and it’s not even close. Top notch service, food quality and ambience. 3 fixed menus, all sushi. Yup can’t go wrong here.

I had a truly exquisite experience at Hoseki, from the moment of arrival at the luxurious Bvlgari Hotel to being ushered into the intimate dining area. Greeted by wonderful staff dressed in elegant Japanese regalia, the attention to detail was evident from the start.

The Omakase experience was both enjoyable and personalised, with the chefs taking into account individual preferences to create a memorable culinary journey. The chefs themselves were fantastic – energetic, engaging, and clearly masters of their craft. Their knife skills were nothing short of mesmerising, and the sushi was sublime.

Particular highlights for me were the Hokkaido uni, the perch, and the tuna belly – each bite was perfection. While it is undeniably an expensive experience, it’s one that I wholeheartedly recommend for a special occasion or simply to indulge in exceptional Japanese cuisine.

Outstanding and fabulous. Thanks to Jun-san and Jean, we were having a wonderful evening. The atmosphere is relaxed despite the high level setting. One of the best dinner experiences ever

No words to describe my food journey here. The fish is as fresh as possible, everything from Japan. The chef is so fun and nice and everyone tries to make it an unforgettable experience. It is expensive but worth it honestly.

The number one Japanese food in Dubai. Very fresh seafood and beef, Not deliberate, every dish is very natural. The chef speaks a little English and very nice.

If I could give less than 1 star I would. This was by far the most expensive dinner I ever had and at the same time the worst. From the failed service by waiters that think they need to fill wine to the rim of your glass to the extreme long waiting time for a cocktail the service was utterly bad. But the food was worse. 10 courses of raw seafood with no taste. The chef didn’t even respond to the fact that I didn’t want to try the raw squid after my wife spit it out?! Only the cooked crab had some taste everything else was bland and too much sushi for the rest of my life. I’ve been to several omakase restaurants in Dubai never this expensive but always nice food. Maybe this is the true way they do it in Japan but I am not a fan and I would not recommend anyone to try it. Maybe try to adjust what you are preparing to what people sitting at the counter like in line with what is mentioned on the website.

This restaurant is the highlight of my trip to Dubai. I haven’t run across anything close to this anywhere else. If you’re after an very authentic Omakase experience, then Hoseki is the only place I can recommend in the Middle East. You step into Japan the minute you walk in and just sit back and enjoy some of the finest Japanese traditions that you’ll come across short of going to Tokyo.
