We wanted to make a place that’s comfortable, but still brings a dedication to good booze and great food. A place that is serious, but not stuffy. A bar with Chicago sensibility. Bar Sotto is our evolution on Italian American comfort. Our beverage list features some of the best Italian beers and wines we could find while our cocktails are takes on the classics. I enjoyed the atmosphere and the service, it was busy so the servers were busy but still efficient and hospitable. The only thing that was off was the chilean sea bass was under cooked. Other than that the meal was delicious. The gnocchi was the star and if would’ve been chefs kiss had it gotten a little bit more of those blistered tomatoes. I definitely will be going back.

Hidden gem in the loop!!! Perfect spot to grab a bite/drink before a shot or for a girls night/date night. We came here before a broadway shot at CIBC Theatre and had the best pre-show meal. Dougie our server was fabulous and honestly felt like I was hanging with an old friend. The truffle fries, arancini, kale csesar, and Roma norts rigatoni were all delish! Will definitely be back soon!

It’s a fun experience. The bar is located downstairs and it’s a long narrow basement. It’s well decorated and fun lights make the atmosphere great for a bar. The staff were very friendly. The food was ok. The fries are tasty. The focaccia was alright, not the best. The drinks are fun.

Stunning bar with creative and delicious drinks! I had the just beet it cocktail and it was amazing. I had never had beet infused vodka and I recommend everyone try it! My friend had the Reggiano. It has parmesan infused vodka, coffee liquor and espresso. It was creamy, a little salty and stunning. Overall the vibes of this bar were immaculate.

Dined downstairs for NYE and had an amazing time with my girlfriends all thanks to KATRINA!! She truly went above and beyond for my guest. The food was amazing, we shared the short rib pasta and another mushroom based (both great). Drinks were strong! Ambience – too cute! Def great for a date night. Lots of couples which was great because we got the corner booth! Will be back!

Bar Sotto is a hidden underground bar. Look for the Italian Village sign. We sat at the bar and Eric helped with serving some delicious libations.

Literally the entire staff is amazing!!! We had an awesome waiter who was so personable and nice and we also spoke to Eric who was very kind and attentive, despite us not being in his section! Everyone is great, the food is delicious, and the ambiance is wonderful too. Dougie was sooo great and lovely and personable!! I genuinely think everyone is so amazing! I would 100000% recommend this place!!!

Not sure why it’s taken me this long to write a review. Probably in hopes that nobody else discovers this masterpiece of a spot. My girlfriend and I have been coming here religiously for a year or so now ever since it opened. I’ve since put a few good friends on as well.
Whether it be for a date night, before a show at Chicago Theatre, a warm refuge after the bussle of the Christmas market, or just for a much needed quality drink after a long ass day of work, this place is versatile and doesn’t miss.
The first time we came, we were blessed with Dougie as our server. What can’t this guy do. Kept us laughing the entire meal, and made us feel like family. Dougie is the reason we came back for a second visit, and the ongoing rotation of incredible, fun drinks, and new menu items every time we return keeps us hooked.
It feels like home every time we walk in, and the staff is starting to feel like family. Thank you Bar Sotto for being awesome, and thank you Dougie for curating memorable experiences and being great at your job.
