Most of these reviews are very telling. My mom used to actually go in here a lot and she said they’re just not nice to her so she stopped going. I wanted to check it out for myself and when I did, she wasn’t wrong. Staff has the mentality of old school Filipino snobs and their judging eyes is uncomfortable. I saw one review that said the lady made a nasty remark and can confirm she’s not the best if she thinks she’s the “face” of this business. Food is mediocre. Looks like they tried to renovate, cute effort but should match the customer service. Market could be better set up. It reminded me of the markets in the PI but somehow, less appealing especially with the suplada attitudes. They’re actually a lot nicer in the PI. Tried it and meh. I love exploring Filipino markets/cuisine in the area but this was a bust for me and my mom’s experience solidified it along with the other reviews. I wanted to prove her wrong but not this time!

If anyone’s looking for A+ service and quality food, my favorite spot is Manila Mart. Might be a drive for most folks in Rockville but well worth the trip! Of course theres Matthew’s Grill and Kuya Ja’s. Can’t go wrong with either.

On September 12, 2025, close to dinner., I visited your establishment with the intention of sitting down and enjoying a meal. The initial impression was confusing. The dining area was not clearly defined. It seemed to have been merged with an unorganized retail section, and many of the tables were cluttered with supplies, making it difficult to find a clean, open space to sit.
When I ordered food from the display trays, it looked like it is lukewarm at best. An employee, who seemed stressed, took the food to the back and microwaved it. This was a dealbreaker for me, as it raised concerns about food quality and preparation standards. Also the entry doesn’t even include RICE….So I ended up just paying for my initial order and went to eat somewhere else.

I ate the food the next day, pork sinigang and pork BBQ(over marinated, I think it’s old) and it was just expected to be what it is except for the BBQ. People often visit establishments like this to experience a welcoming cultural atmosphere as much as the food. Based on my visit, the overall experience was not positive. I hope these comments can help you improve, as this store has potential, but the current customer experience falls short.

I wanted to explore more Filipino food after I have tried it for a while. I chose KC Filipino Restaurant because I wanted to try Crispy Pata (Crispy Knuckle) that not many places serve it. (mostly pork belly) When I got inside the atmosphere was very casual and seem like a cafeteria or canteen style with mini mart. It might be very familiar for Asian people like me or Filipino. Too bad that they don’t have menu or any food name on display glass counter, so it wasn’t quite easy for me to order something else that I wanted to try (besides Crispy Pata).

As for the food, Crispy Pata, I was a little upset. (From my experiences) It wasn’t crispy enough, a lot of fat/skin parts still sticky and tough. That might be because they didn’t fry it long enough and many customers there at that time. As for the flavor, quite tasteless, not much herbs or spices. I also ordered something look like beef curry (I don’t know the name), I like this one though. It tasted quite mild and beef texture was cooked nicely. I still got BBQ pork skewer and fried banana, they both were just OK, quite plain and too sweet.

For the service, as I said in the beginning, it was vey casual restaurant, so please don’t expect to get a professional or full service too much. It was ordinary and informal restaurant type. (but inside is spacious and have many dine-in tables)

p.s. If you have or know Filipino food background before, it would be helpful to visit this place but if you like a challenge and learn authentic Filipino style, that is fine too.

p.s. Before I left, I bought a Filipino dessert to try, because I like the color (violet) I don’t know what it is, anyway nothing was fancy.

Food court style restaurant with the entrees already cooked and on display. Got a combo which had 2 entrees and rice. I thought there was way too much rice for the portion size of the entrees. I didn’t see the prices posted anywhere but when the food was being put in the box, judging by lunch boxes at Chinese restaurants or stuff you can get at food courts, I was expecting something in the $8-9 range. So I was disappointed at the $13 price and thought it would be hard to be worth that price (it wasn’t ).

As for the taste, the Beef Caldereta was very tasty but I thought the meat pieces needed to be stewed longer as they weren’t very tender. The Chicken Adobo was okay but not as flavorful as I would have expected.

I also felt it is not easy for new customers to decide what they want, as none of the dishes are labeled, prices are not shown and the menu was hard to find.

The take away: I would definitely come back here.

The thorough review: A Filipino restaurant with a limited but respectable selection of main courses. After ordering two of the classics for dine in (i.e., bistek and chicken adobo), the cashier asked me just to pay after my dinner—I wasn’t sure if that was the norm or perhaps, she was simply busy helping another customer with another issue. I enjoyed the meal—no complaints. And apparently, they sell bulalo which I may have to try the next time I’m in the area. There is no shortage of parking outside which is a major plus.

On the groceries front, I found the prices to be reasonable vs some places in MD that criminally overcharges.

Overall, it was a pleasant eating and grocery shopping experience.

This was my first time trying Filipino food. We had a great experience.
The lady at the counter explained every dish to us and we pick what we thought we would enjoy.

Everything tasted good! We ordered rice and some stewed pork as well as noodles and chicken.

We also grabbed some frozen pork buns from the shop inside the restaurant.

Will come back to try something else.

Let me first start this recommendation with this place is outstanding. Truly authentic home-style cuisine. If you had a Filipino friend or went to a Filipino function, this is the food you would get. Tasty and definitely made with love.

Now the details. This is authentic cuisine, don’t expect just the flavor or an Americanized version of the food. This means the flavors are different from what most Americans are used to. The food can be oily. When you’re cooking for flavor you’re going to have some oil. Love it, embrace it. Some of the food is served on the bone. Sometimes you might get a little gristle. Don’t be shy eat like you’re at home. Cuz this is authentic home cooking. For those unfamiliar with Filipino cooking this is a great taste in an authentic bite.

The prices are very good. Very competitive for a fast-casual restaurant. It’s very clean and there’s plenty of seating.parking is easy even if you have to compete with people going to the market next door.

We stumbled across this lovely cafeteria style restaurant as it’s located in same shopping complex as the Tile Shop. Before agonizing over different shades of white bathroom tile, we decided to try out this restaurant as neither my husband or I have ever tried Filipino food. The restaurant was clean and had plenty of booth seating. We were a little confused at first on how to order because we saw no menu listing the various food items, but staff explained the various meat and veggie options. I ordered the barbecue pork with a delicious vegetable stew made with squash, shrimp, and long beans in a light coconut milk. It came with a heaping serving of white rice. My husband ordered same veggie stew and chicken adobo and liked his food as well. I grabbed a dessert—a rice cake called sapin-sapin—from their refrigerator as they are a small market and have prepared foods to take out as well. It was delicious! Would definitely go back again!

There’s no menu and no identification of the prepared hot foods they have that day, so you have to point and ask. The food I selected for carry-out was good and standard serving sizes. Staff isn’t very friendly though, I may have been inclined to buy more but it felt like I was bothering them every time I asked about one of the prepared dishes (one word response, heavy sighs and even an eye roll). I was from out of town and can’t get Filipino food where I live so I was looking forward to eating some. There’s a small market inside which has a pretty good variety of breads, snacks, seasonings, etc and refrigerated cases of to-go brazo, bibingka, commercial pastillas, empanadas, even salted eggs (though they couldn’t tell me if they were chicken or duck), canned beverages, etc. I may go back there if I was looking for something specific and they had it because the food I got that day was good. But there are a couple of other filipino food places I would probably consider going to first.

Food was fantastic – chicken adobo and pork menudo were flavorful and delicious! Lunch time was busy so there was a decent wait but it was worth it – I’ll be coming back to try some more stuff and to buy snacks from their mini market!
