As for their beef version, it’s pretty damn good. Just disappointed that I wasn’t able to get what I wanted because the online menu was dated and was too hungry to find another spot for dinner.
Pro tip: order ahead if you can. Don’t get the queso taco or hard shell tacos unless you are eating there. They get soggy/soft on the drive home.
Also, don’t forget to orden your consomé.
Truly a blessing for Southern CA.
Hidden gem. Any item you choose will be delicious. My favorite dishes to order are the birria tacos with consume and the birria bowl combo. I recommend this restaurant to everyone I know. You’ll definitely leave smiling from ear to ear.
Looking for another taqueria to check out, I managed to find El Toro Chido. El Toro Chido is a quaint hole in the wall, serving up cheap eats. Originally wanting tripas, cabeza, lengua or buche, I was told they didn’t have them. Amongst the choices of asada, pastor, pollo & chorizo, I decided on 3 al pastor tacos.
Tacos al pastor ($1.87/each)-
Tacos under $2? That’s a bargain! Most places now charge $3 to $4. The al pastor tacos had ample amounts of meat, although it didn’t taste fresh. As if it’s been out for awhile. The salsa had good heat, and 3 tacos were enough to satisfy me.
Service was good. The wait wasn’t long before I had my food. Only a few tables to dine at, El Toro Chido is a takeout taqueria, and not for groups.
Cheap eats, full bellies. El Toro Chido is great for buying lots of tacos. While not the highest quality, their tacos area also cheaper, so know what to expect. I wouldn’t mind coming back, and exploring the rest of the menu the next chance I get.
