My son brought me here asking me if I liked Real Ramen, I’m thinking the little orange cellophane packaged ones…LOL!! ok! I walked in and the staff were extremely professional and helpful and smiling! The atmosphere and music males this experience absolutely awesome! The food!!! OmG! I am hooked on the Miso Ramen! And some hot sake at the end topped it off to perfection! My son is a regular a d I now have a new favorite comfort food and place to go and hang out and be comfortable! 5 Star this!!!!!

Wow! Little Big Diner blew us away. The ramen was amazing, the miso spicy ramen was my favorite. Went there and told the waiter in convo we were new to Newton and they welcomed us with one of their most loved appetizer on the house! It was amazing. Will be going back for ramen more often. Great local joint. The space is small so takeout might be popular during busy hours

I’m so glad we got to try this gem in Newton Centre! We went around 6:45pm on a Friday and it was about a 30 minute wait for a table of 5 (waitlist with texts). There are only around 2-3 tables, plus around 8 counter seats, so seating is quite limited. The wait was worth it, because the food was delicious.

My favorite item was the green papaya salad. Definitely my favorite papaya salad that I’ve had in the Boston area. Fresh crunchy papaya, umami bomb with some acidity, and really nice crispy seafood and crunchies on top. I would come back just for this! Textures and flavors were perfect.

Everyone loved the karaage fried chicken as well — would recommend! Crunchy with great flavor.

I tried a couple of the ramen broths, and I can say that the shoyu broth (chicken broth) and Tokyo Basic broth (half chicken half veggie broth) taste pretty similar, while the Chef’s Ultra Ramen broth tastes a bit watered down in comparison. The broths were much richer than what I am used to for shoyu (more like what I would expect from a 50/50 mix of shoyu and tonkotsu) but I really liked it! The noodles were good, though I had a big clump of hard/stuck together noodles in my bowl. The marinated egg was nice and jammy. I appreciated the char on the chashu and that it wasn’t too fatty, but the texture of the meat was a bit stringy/grainy.

Overall this is definitely the best ramen I’ve had in the Newton area, and I’ll be craving the green papaya salad for a while!

Try this restaurant if we want to ruin a perfect night.

We ordered 3 ramen, the bag came late (took them almost 90 minutes for the pickup order) and light. We asked the waiter if that’s everything, and got an affirmative “Yes!”

When we got home and opened the bag, there sits 3 cups of soup and only 1 bowl of ramen!!!! Tried to contact them through the Toast app, it directed us to call the restaurant directly. And when we called, no one picks up and it went to the voice mail…

At this point we’re not going to drive back to this restaurant for the missing food. I tasted the 3 different soup they gave me, 2 are way too salty and the last one too oily. I get it the restaurant is trying to be fancy and claim it’s Hawaiian style food, but I guess they need to get the basics right first…

While visiting my hometown after living out of state for 10 years, it was so nice to see something different to add to our choices to being home! Broth is flavorful and there are a vast amount of choice of ramen and something for non-ramen enthusiasts as well. Staff was incredibly attentive, did not steer us wrong, and overall good vibes. The play list was fun (loud so hard to converse even on a weeknight), but still a place great place that I would return to! Highly recommend for a cozy evening meal!

Such a great place! It’s tiny, so be prepared to wait on certain nights….however, if you have to wait, it will be worth it! The ramen is delicious and plentiful. The staff is also great and have always been very nice and helpful. 🙂

Outstanding first time visiting here. Good quality is amazing and it’s hand down the best ramen I’ve had in a Boston so far. The service was awesome S/o Matt for taking such good care of us. Will be going here regularly. Must try’s are the Chefs Ultra Ramen, the Kara-age fried chicken and their Hawaiian style burger.

The atmosphere was great, service was great as well. The servers were knowledgeable and brought the food out in a timely manner. They were also very friendly and recommended the best options for our party.

Unfortunately the food wasn’t the best and I had my expectations high due to everyone raving about the place. I got the chef’s ultra ramen. My personal opinion is that a ramen is characterized by a great broth and ingredients, which unfortunately it had neither. The noodles were decent, but the rest of the ingredients didn’t really feel like it matched the ramen. The broth was salty but also felt flavorless, just salt. The best part of my meal was the Karage chicken, which did have great flavor and a good taste.

I probably won’t go here again unless I am with friends.

I had dinner at the Little big diner few days back. It was packed when we reached around 7pm. There were a few tables finishing up and leaving but we were not offered the table right away. We were made to wait for a long time, since it was cold we were told to stand near the bathroom 🙁
Even after waiting for so long we were ultimately given a seat at the counter stools. The overall service experience was bad.

Food: we ordered Chef’s ultra ramen.
The soup was delicious and the meat was fresh. The noodles were ok and not the typical ramen noodles.
Value for money ✅

Cute little spot in Newton center, excellent vibes, staff is very welcoming, did have that little ramen joint feel like you would get in Japan, but American style of course.
Ramen was good stuff!
Next time I want to try some of the interesting looking side dishes that they serve too
