Mama’s Restaurant is located just a short drive off of 701 in North Carolina-just before the SC state line. 701 is a main road to the very busy Myrtle Beach area, and I encourage travelers to get off the highway and check out this little town of Tabor City.
Stepping into Mama’s is like going back in time. So, no, it’s not modern in any way, but that makes it cool. It was clean and everyone was very friendly, and the food was great and super reasonably priced. It’s a great meal to enjoy before you get to the expensive Beach.
Note they are only open Tuesday through Saturday 4 AM to 11 AM so I’m talking breakfast! Lol

Passing through town and stopped on a Saturday morning. Wasn’t too busy. Service was top notch and all workers were very friendly. Sat down and ordered in less than 2 minutes. Got our food within 10. Food was excellent and priced right. Small town location but big time feel. Ate breakfast only. If in the area would highly recommend. They love to serve!

The name describes it all. It’s like going to Mama’s to eat. Always the best. Ate there lots of time for breakfast and it doesn’t get any better unless you go to your mamas house for breakfast. Always friendly, and order is ALWAYS RITE! Grits are the creamiest you will ever have.

Country kitchen with super friendly staff & excellent breakfast. Make sure you give yourself 30-45 minutes to enjoy your meal, though. They are hoppin’ and it sometimes takes a little while to get served. But, it’s always worth it.
