Wowzaaaaa! Some of the best sushi I’ve had in a while. The Fire Cracker Roll completely stole the show- we even had to order another one to go! I can’t wait to come back and try more from the menu. The staff was also incredibly welcoming and attentive.

We have been here a couple times ever since a few years ago, when I think they just opened. The food never disappoints. I don’t often come by Japanese food that stand out, and this place does, in many ways like the presentation, taste and variety of food offered. Having spent many years in Vancouver, I’ve had a fair bit of Japanese food growing up.
The service is great too. Our waitress is quick, patient, and recommended a dish that we loved.
There is outdoor dining area in addition to indoor. There are two spacious bathrooms, relatively clean.
All in all, this is one of the top Japanese restaurants in the area and my personal favorite. I hope more people get to enjoy it like I do.

We are half moon bay frequenters, and we have passed this restaurant all the time and always see how many cars there are. We finally decided we have to try it… and it did not disappoint. The service was awesome! The chef greeted us as we walked in as did the host/server. We were seated promptly and our food came extremely quick! You also get the option of water or hot tea, which I love.
The food was all such good quality and at a reasonable price. One of my favorite miso soups I have had in a while, and the hand rolls were great, not too small and very tasty. The rolls we got we thought were good, maybe lacking flavor, but the quality of the fish was so amazing that it made up for it. The garlic edamame were also a highlight of our experience. We will definitely be back soon.

I ordered two sushi rolls, one for myself and one for my partner. I made it very clear to mark no tobiko on my roll, as I am allergic, but they still put tobiko on it. To make things worse, they served both rolls on the same plate, so the tobiko touched everything. Now I can’t even enjoy my food, and I’m left having to order delivery somewhere else because I don’t want to drive back out again. Very disappointing experience. I will never order from here again.

Stopped by Hangetsu Sushi after kayaking on a Sunday and really enjoyed it. Super quick service and friendly staff. The miso soup was delicious, and the garlic edamame came out hot and flavorful. We had the Romeo & Juliet roll (4/5) and Veggie Dragon Lover (4.5/5) — both tasty. Would definitely come back if in the neighborhood

Eight of us had dinner and we all enjoyed our meal. The diversity of the menu was very good with a broad enough selection to meet most diner’s needs. We found the presentation to be the best sushi serving aesthetic we have had frankly the food was as good to look at as it was to eat. While the service was not fast the speed was acceptable. Our group had two areas which they could work on: 1) the staff was a little clueless on what to serve young children, this of course will be an easy fix when they study the options. 2) the order taking and food delivery was a little bit disorganized. Both of these issues are minor and I would recommend this as the best Japanese food on the coast. We paid $56 per person but nobody ever said sushi is cheap.

After our uneventful brunch down the road, our stomachs were still yearning for some tasty food and decided to try this sushi restaurant. The A5 wagyu nigiri looked appetizing on the Google pictures and recommended by waitress. The preparation appeared very promising. It was delicious and sauce was tasty. However, the wagyu didn’t melt in the mouth as an A5 wagyu should. Still more tender than ribeye and filet mignon though…4.5*.
-Oysters were fresh and tasty: 4.5*
-sake Toro sashimi delicious but was hoping it would look better: 4.5*
The food was awesome so we decided togo a couple items due to being full by now.
Service: since it just opened for lunch, there were only 3 other tables so Service was 5*. I imagine our friendly and energetic waitress would have delivered the same level if it was packed.
Togo:
-hamachi carpaccio, 5*, was fantastic and delicious, surprisingly excellent for togo too
-the Fuji yama just as tasty, 4.5*. Imagine if it wasn’t togo.
Definitely would return here next time and recommend.

Took my mom here for her birthday and was not disappointed. The food was fresh, authentic, and reasonably priced. The staff were friendly and accommodating. Our dinner was so yummy I didn’t have time to take a pic. Just of the mochi ice cream afterwards. Which was also quickly gobbled up. 10/10 will be back for sure.
