Ok. I am certain this is my first straight 5 experience! Let’s start with the service; Immediately greeted with a smile. A sincere admission of wait time followed by direction to “comfy chairs.” Spotlessly clean, bright decor, low to moderate noise. More service info coming, on to the food! OMG!! House made everything! Bloody Mary – pickle forward and very tasty. The Bloody ice cube is genius!! Biscuits and Gravy; biscuits were cheesy, perfect crispy outside, pillow inside. The flavor was NOT an average biscuit! The sausage gravy was simply enchanted! The best I have had that I can remember…I make a damn good gravy, I thought! Wife ordered Hashbrown Casserole. Do not confuse that simple name with the end product! The explosion of flavor that jumped off my fork and proceeded to blow my mind was…no words! Spectacularly tender and flavourful roasted pork, firm yet cooked hashrowns provided the perfect bite. Again, the flavor was just fantastic. We have not yet tried the Puffin, a blueberry and lemon cheesecake pan muffin but have every reason it will be spot on! Service, again; I made a terrible mess and ruined my wife’s breakfast. However our server stated, “Accidents happen, the Kitchen Angels will fix a fresh plate.” (That is actually not a perfect quote) My wife was presented a fresh plate and we went on the taste trip I sorta described today. If in the South Haven, MI area, find a way to Douglas and Happystance!! I sincerely believe you, too, will be treated to outstanding service and very high quality food!! I absolutely recommend Happystance Dinette!! Enjoy!!!

Stopped in for breakfast to start our antique shopping weekend.

Our waitress Aileen seated us immediately after we entered and gave a few minutes to look at the menu. The food was out 10 minutes or so after we placed our orders. The Hash brown casserole and bacon were hot when place on the table. My wife said the gravy was some of the most flavorful she’s eaten. Definitely spent no time under a warming light. Also had a fresh fruit cup and OJ.

Everything tasted wonderful and Aileen was very pleasant and attentive.

Highly recommend breakfast here, and wish we would be close by to try the lunch menu.

The prices were also very reasonable, especially for the quality and amount of food you get.

The meal I got was okay. The herb potato’s I got tasted like dry frozen potatoes. The potatoes had some sort of green herb but no flavor at all. Not even a lick of salt.
I also got a breakfast sandwich which was good but just as good as McDonald’s. The sauce though was very good!
The service was not great. I felt like there was no communication about when coffees were coming. Then my friend, who is pregnant, never got a refill on her water.
It was poor service especially for a pricey brunch.
We also had a group of 9 which luckily half of our part didn’t show up, because they sat us at two different tables. So not a good place for big groups.

Had our first visit to Happystance this morning and there was some good some bad.
The atmosphere was good, we enjoyed the outdoor seating area and it wasn’t overcrowded or overly loud.
The food was pretty good, decent portions and everything was cooked well. The biscuits and gravy tasted great, but there was nowhere enough gravy to match the 4 biscuits. It tasted great, just not enough. The standard breakfast was… Pretty standard. The bacon was delicious but could’ve been crispier and the potatoes were overly salted.
Where our visit fell short was the service. The food came out fast, so the kitchen was fine. Our waitress (unsure of name) was quite rude. This was not limited to us, she was overly rude to every table close to us. In addition we saw her forget requests of other tables. We continued to hear sighs and see eye rolls throughout our visit for everyone. It could’ve been a bad day, but service held this back from a 5 star review.
Go for the food, though!

Sat outside on a gorgeous summer morning. Food was scrumptious, service was very friendly and coffee was delicious. Highly recommend!! Will definitely come back next time we are vacationing in Douglas.

We enjoyed the Eggs Boobington (eggs Benedict- yum), the biscuits & gravy (just amazing!) and the banana bread (no photo because we ate it while it was still warm off the griddle)

This place is really nice, very clean and the staff are very professional. My partner had buttermilk pancakes with whipped cream, strawberries, etc. He loved it and the presentation was very well done. He rated it a 4, it looked like a 5. I had the biscuits, sausage gravy with fried eggs on top. It’s presentation was a 5, beautiful. Unfortunately it was way to salty. I suspect a mistake in the kitchen. So important to taste the sausage gravy. It was a bummer. The biscuits looks so good. I did eat the eggs and a little bit of the biscuits, but couldn’t finish it. So I give it a 2. You got to taste the food if your a cook or chef. We definitely would go back. I didn’t say anything at the time to the waiter or staff because they were so good and I was in a positive mood and wanted my partner to enjoy their meal. Sometimes a mistake can happen. I would love to try that dish again, but with a lot less salt! Lol

Really cute place that feels so fresh and clean. The hostess and servers were very friendly and welcoming. The food is fantastic! I had the breakfast nachos with chorizo and the portion was huge. It was a little salty (and I like a lot of salt) but it was really tasty. My Vietnamese Coffee was great. My husband had a traditional breakfast and coffee and enjoyed both. It was busy but not crowded and we did not have to wait. Check out the egg wall paper!

Awesome breakfast/lunch restaurant. Lovely atmosphere and always has the cutest paintings in the windows. Everyone who works there is so lovely – especially Katie who runs the place. Always go when we’re in the area.
Great food, great coffee! 10/10

This restaurant was so good we had to go back twice! The breakfast burgers one of the best things I have ever had for breakfast and is a must try. They’re coffee is fantastic so even if you’re not going for a meal stop by for a nice iced coffee to go. Will definitely be back the next time we are in town. This is a must try if you have never been to this restaurant.

This was my first visit to the Happystance Dinette and it won’t be my last. I went in for breakfast today. The service was great, the staff was friendly and attentive. The menu looked a little fun and quirky but in a good way. Lots of familiar breakfast items but also some unique twists. I was glad to see the served Sympatico coffee, so many places have mediocre coffee. I tried the hash brown casserole and I was blown away. It was delicious. I also tried a slice of the blueberry bread, also a winner in my book. I’ve always said I’m happy to pay a little more for better quality food and this visit was totally worth it.
