What a fantastic dining experience this was! The staff were attentive and friendly. The ambience was chic yet cozy. But most importantly, the food was delectable! Every bite was delightful and the flavours were spot on!
A big thank you to the award winning Exec Chef Arup Dasgupta for the delightful dining experience. We had scallops, lamb chops and creamy broccoli paneer for starters followed by even more delicious daal makhani, chefs special lamb shank, a show piece of a biryani lot and breads. We totally overate. I have no idea how we managed to go through the mango sorbet and pistachio kulfi. That was such a gastronomically satisfying experience indeed!
Can’t recommend the food enough. This ones a hidden gem in South Woodford. Parking was also easily available within a couple of minutes walk and overall the location was great.

Had such a wonderful experience at Namak ion Saturday. The food is extremely authentic and I’m of a South Asian background. Each dish was cooked to perfection and the flavours were tantalising.
I will be visiting again and just to add that Shab’s hospitality was on point and he attended to all our needs. Delicious food and outstanding customer service.

Wouldn’t recommend.

Went here for Eid dinner with the family – reserved ahead. The restaurant is minimally decorated – a bit outdated but looks ok. There was no atmosphere here at all – we were some of the only diners there on a Friday evening (after 7pm) – another family came in towards the end however.

As a South Asian, I wouldn’t recommend this place for the food – which of course is the only reason you’d go here obviously. I think the food is more tailored to a western palette perhaps – not surprising considering the location. We ordered a number of items from the menu and nothing blew us away – although the prices definitely do. Pretty extortionately priced for what it is and because of this, I expected way better. The biriyani had so many whole dry spices left in there that it left an awful after taste – I had a cardamom, aniseed, part of a cinnamon stick etc in practically every bite – needless to say, most of it was left uneaten. The curries were decent – nothing special at all, have had way better in more basic places. The only decent thing we had was the chilli paneer.

The service was not great at all – don’t want to be negative but felt quite unwelcoming and rude right from the start, maybe they didn’t appreciate the fact that we wouldn’t spend money on alcohol. Found the waiter/ manager to be quite rude and abrupt.

Will definitely not return.

Very disappointing experience, had to wait for approx 20 minutes at the door with gush of cold wind coming every now and then, even after prior booking with 3 other parties waiting to get acknowledged. After getting a table, we waited for someone to take our orders for next 20 minutes. As no one bothered, we went to the bar to place drinks order and had to call someone for taking our food order later. The food arrived after another 30 minutes and was just ok, nothing too great, although quantity was too little. Somehow they forgot to give us table napkins, even after asking we didn’t get table napkins but tissues ( table napkins issue was limited to our table only). We got in conversation with the neighbouring tables and everyone was super frustrated trying not to ruin valentine day experience. One of the guys from our right side gave up and carried the dishes to the kitchen himself, finally they all left super frustrated. People were getting up and closing the main door as there was no one at the door and it kept opening with cold air coming in. The owner has just put a cloth curtain to contain the cold air, which is not helping much. How much does it take to make a closed space which is so common in most restaurants.

We tried not to complain and ruin the day for us, the manager didn’t seem bothered and had the guts to put a 10% service charge for this horrible service. I have seen the restaurent’s response to the reviews on google and can upload the booking confirmation in case you call it a fake review!!

So final take- Do not ruin your day, At least dont plan to go there on a holiday or any busy day. believe me, they cant handle.

Went here to celebrate 2 birthdays on this very day. The booking was made with this information. We were greeted with no recognition of the celebration. The drinks order was a shambles. With food order placed we ate our poppadoms but the accompanying bits were different to say the least. An hour and 15 mins after our starters were removed we asked where our food was. We were told they were busy in the kitchen with takeaway food. Not good as surely diners in house should take president but obviously not. The throughput of deliveroo riders was constant. My wife’s meal was bland, cold and awful. The rest not much better. We wernt even asked about more drinks. They had the cheek to add a service charge which I would have had removed if I had taken my glasses. All in all probably one of the top 5 worst places I have dined and if this review helps to reduce in house diners in the future then I have done my job well. We will never return.

Just wow! Every dish is full of different flavours! The food is incredible! Takes indian cuisine to a whole different level. And matched by amazing cocktails and service. Especially Shab who is just lovely! Feel so lucky to live in Woodford and have Namak on our doorstep. Five star!

Darius Approved!
We had everything we could here because our family loves this place, and now we do too!

The service was stellar and the food was even better. If you’re looking for the BEST appetizer, definitely try the Chilli chicken ! We also had the Chicken Biryani and Lamb Biryani which were both delicious. The Lamb Shank and Mixed grill also went well with those items. Desserts and drinks were good too! Be sure to give this spot a try if you’re in the neighbourhood!

We visited for the first time recently. In a nutshell, I wish we could give six stars.
The murgh bhuna masala, butter chicken, chicken biryani, peshwari naan and garlic naan were exquisite each in their own way. Flavourful, complex, succulent, and an appropriate portion size. The presentation was lovely, with the chicken biryani’s bread covering being cut and prepared by the table for us.
The ambience was serene, perfect for dates and for intimate family dinners. I particularly liked the honeycomb-embossed cutlery.
The staff were pleasant and attentive.
I am not surprised this restaurant has recently won an award; we will certainly return with our family!

Okay, just to say from the outset, the food here is excellent. So if you’re getting a takeaway, you should definitely try it. I should also add, the lady that served us was very attentive and delightful. The reason why this place gets a one star for atmosphere Is because the restaurant Manager spoke to the serving staff, including our server like they were absolute dirt. He very vocally chastised the servers for things like bringing out a tray when they weren’t supposed to. At one point he was loudly having a go at a young server who looked like she was on the verge of tears. His tone and manner were so aggressive and putting our dining experience to one side. Absolutely no way to speak to people, let alone your staff. If he is comfortable behaving in this way in front of the customers, I’d be concerned how he behaves away from the restaurant Do you know how to wash dishes . Given the way he was behaving, I wanted to check how the tips are distributed and when I inquired, I was told that tips go to management and not the staff. This is absolutely appalling, given that his contribution to our dining experience was berating and belittling his staff, I asked for the discretionary tip to be removed from our bill and I tipped our served in cash. This kind of treatment of your staff is beyond the pale, and really should be left back in the 60s. So if you are going to go, look out for this and please tip your server in cash!
