I travel the world tasting chicken sandwiches wherever I go. I can say with full certainty that off The Hook has just given me the best chicken sandwich of my life thus far. The Tree Heat Chicken Sandwich is a sandwich I wish I could take back to Jersey to feast on every weekend and feed my future kids with. I have a new reason to visit Bristol, VT every year. Thank you Andy you were great!!

This hidden gem has the best food in Vermont! I’ve chosen a different item from the menu everytime I visit and am always blown away by the quality and flavor of the food! The chef is hilarious, friendly, and makes everyone who walks in feel like a regular. Do yourself a favor and get some amazing food and watch live music at Off The Hook!

Sooo much salt that everything has no other flavor but an overly abundance of salt. We couldn’t get enough water after eating.

Stopped in for the Off The Hook Burger, and it lived up to the name. Smash burger was spot-on: crispy edges, melty cheese, OTH sauce was great. And those fried onions… made the whole thing pop.
The fries deserve their own shoutout—crispy, fresh-cut, and flavorful. In the conversation for best fries I’ve ever had.
The owner, brings great energy and really cares about the food and the customers.

I’ve been coming to south mountain tavern for a few years and while I’ve always enjoyed it, Off the Hook really brings it to a different level. Andy’s chicken wings are truly the best I’ve had in quite a while, and the fried chicken sandwich was excellent as well. Great vibe in there as always. Check it out!

Not only does Andy make a killer smash burger. His wings are tge best in Vermont. His fry’s are perfect. Hand breaded chicken sandwiches taste incredible. There’s more on the menu I haven’t tried yet. Strongly recommend trying this man’s food.

Last week, during a typical Vermont midwinter storm, my girlfriend and myself took a trip to south mountain tavern (formerly hatch 31) for dinner. As we opened the door, I was greeted with the scent of French fries, and burgers. As a burger fanatic, the smell was a welcome and familiar odor. The atmosphere was joyous, the people were welcoming. As we approached the counter, I feasted my eye on the menu. At this point, the thought of a drink had been tossed to the back burner. I needed a Burger. Half way down the menu, there it was… Like a moth to a flame, I was drawn in. Quickly, my girlfriend said “that sounds perfect.” which was music to my ears. She never finishes her food, so that means more for me! “We’ll take two smash burgers” I said to the woman working at the counter. to which a patron announced “YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED!”. I watched as Andy began working his magic. Like watching Pablo Picasso paint, or Wolfgang Mozart compose music, it was a work of art. Our drinks weren’t even a quarter finished when the burgers and garlic fries arrived at the table. My girlfriend and I’s eyes met as soon as the burgers hit the table. I replied “this looks so good”. The rest is history. After finishing our burgers, I made sure to greet the owner of “Off the Hook”. A fella named Andy, with a smile that lights up a room, and a personality that leaves you wanting to chat for hours. What an experience, one I look forward to repeating over and over again.
