I love the vibe of this place! It’s small, cozy, and unique. I came here by myself at 11 am on a wed and It was such a vibe. I’m not a souvenir person but I even wanted to buy their merch. The chilaquiles were fabulous. I added steak and I highly recommend. Great gluten free options and no seed oils!! When I told him I left a good review they gave me a free dessert as well which was fantastic. FREE stickers, magnets, and postcards!! Please come here!

The experience here was a mix of great food and some disappointing details. On the positive side, the tortillas were made fresh and were very good. The proteins were also a highlight: excellently cooked and well-seasoned.

The sides, however, were a bit of a letdown. The guacamole was very odd; it was just mashed unseasoned avocados with long onions mixed in and covered in shredded cheese. The chips were homemade but were way too thick and lacked any seasoning.

The service is what ultimately brought the rating down for me. Despite being the one to ask for the bill, the waiter ignored me and handed it to my wife instead. It felt dismissive and was an annoying way to end the meal.

The best way to describe this place is “high end pretend Mexican food.” It feels like it was designed specifically to cater to a demographic that isn’t looking for authenticity but an aesthetic.

Tacos: The street taco–sized carne asada had good flavor, though it was only served with white onions, microgreens, and salsa verde. Tasty, but the price felt a bit high for the portion.

Chilaquiles: Very flavorful overall. I wasn’t a fan of the over-easy egg, but that’s part of the dish. The beans were excellent, with great taste and consistency.

Atmosphere: Average. Flies were a bit of an issue, and the music was loud, making conversation difficult.

Overall: The food was decent, but the dining experience and pricing left me feeling it was just average.

Oh my! We finally made our first visit, and it definitely won’t be our last. We tried the guacamole with homemade chips, the apple and fennel salad, and both the carne asada callejeros and carnitas tacos—everything was incredibly fresh and full of flavor. The service was wonderful and so friendly. It truly felt like being welcomed into a good neighbor’s home and treated to a delightful meal.

Cool concept, paid $16 for a large bean and cheese burrito with an egg shell in it. Aside from that, I wanted to like it but the flavor wasn’t that great for what I paid for. Also, wanted to add chicken to it, but they couldn’t accommodate that request.

Motel West has a fun ambience and delicious food. The chips and guacamole were a wonderful start to the meal. The guacamole had green apple which was an unexpected and great addition. My entree was the carne on a stick – the meat was tender and the homemade chimichurri was fantastic! I highly recommend visiting Motel West.

If you don’t understand the vibe and style of food motel west is going for then you’ll totally miss the concept and think it’s “overpriced” or “slow”. Everything menu item is genuinely thought through and meticulously made to give you way more than the generic Mexican food restaurant where you go and spend $1 on a street taco. I eat at flemmings and Ruth’s Chris at least once a month and I can honestly say comparing price/quality/flavor/presentation to those two, motel west comes out on top. I Absolutley would and will pay the money time and time again to eat here. The pricing is Absolutley reasonable for the quality of food they are going for.

Had dinner here last night and our server didn’t know what he was doing. He forgot utensils, didn’t know basic questions from the menu when asked. Had to constantly ask the cooks what we were asking from the menu. It took our appetizer 45 min to come out. And an hour and half later got some of our entrees. The last part of our order showed up extremely late. My husband orders the tequila steak which was tender and nice, but showed up last once everyone in our party had eaten and wasn’t asked how his steak wanted to be cooked we had to flag down our waiter to tell him how he wanted it cooked.
The food was fine, overpriced for the flavor would’ve rather gone to a similar priced Mexican restaurant that do have a good vibe and food such as sol agave. We later overheard the waiter apologizing to the table next to us saying the kitchen ran out of cheese and their order was going to be delayed because someone was “running to the store” to buy some. We definitely weren’t the only ones frustrated with the waiter and the wait of our food last night. It was poorly run. We continuously had to ask our waiter for utensils, napkins and to refill our water because those simple things weren’t being done/had been done. So besides having our food an hour and half later and a waiter who didn’t know what he was doing… we left paying for a $75 dinner that I would’ve either gone and eaten street tacos for better flavor or paid the same amount with better waiting and flavor a different higher end restaurant.

Darling and well thought out restaurant. The service was incredible! The decor is beautiful. My teenage son said “it feels so homey and cozy.” The carne asada tacos were the best! *chefs kiss* the fennel salad was fresh, the chips and salsa were good and my son loved his bean and cheese burrito. The tortillas from the tacos to chips and burrito were delicious. We had the chefs choice dessert and I had never had anything like it. It was insanely good. We loved it all and can’t wait to come back.

I was SO excited to try this place but was sadly disappointed.

Parking was very annoying and the location is not the best. I have heard amazing things on social media so I was excited to try! The cashier was no joke a 7 or 8 year old girl (likely a child of an employee) who didn’t know what she was doing and it took forever to get our order in. First impression of the place was very unprofessional.

We ordered chips and salsa to start and the salsa was so good!!! However, the chips were cold. Also worth mentioning that the restaurant was freezing so bring a jacket and a beanie if you go lol.

My husband ordered the rice and beans burrito and he loved it

I got the carne asada taco which was superrrr good. The meat was cooked perfectly. The beans are good too. I didn’t like the side of rice we ordered but my husband did. Very unique flavor.

Overall, it was pricier than I expected for a taco, rice and beans, and a burrito ($30). Not crazy expensive but kind of for the amount of food we got. I can tell the owners are new at this so I will give them grace there but they need to get children off the register and turn the heat on. Undecided if we will back.
