Food was good and service was fast and friendly. I ordered the shrimp quesadilla (very good) which came with fries. I ordered the corn elote (corn in a cup w/ cheese on top with lime) forgot exact name, this was ok I would have liked one more layer of flavor. For dessert I ordered the tres leches cake which was also ok/ frosting was perfect. I will revisit. Atmosphere was nice and colorful.

The food at Mi Promesa is absolutely out of this world! We ordered the Cubana torta, carne asada tacos, and birria fries, along with chips and multiple salsas to try—and every single bite was packed with flavor. The quality and taste of the dishes alone would easily earn five stars.
That said, the service left a lot to be desired. Our drinks sat empty for long stretches, we never received napkins, and even after asking, silverware was never brought to the table. It felt like the staff wasn’t very attentive, which unfortunately took away from what could have been a perfect dining experience.
If you’re going for the food, it’s 100% worth it—but be prepared to overlook the service. With a little more care on that front, this place could be a true gem.

The food was amazing and the portion sizes huge! This is hands down the BEST authentic Mexican food in Sumter. From the salsa to the tortillas they’re all hand made! Give it a try, you won’t regret it.

I had seen a TikTok for this place, which initiated us going. I didn’t know they had gained an establishment spot so we were definitely excited to try it. We first tried the food when they had their food truck out at USCS/farmers market area. It was absolutely amazing then and even more so being able to sit down and enjoy their food. The atmosphere was very clean, organized, and cultured. Service was extremely friendly and prompt. Our server was upbeat, smiling, and greeted us vibrantly. The food was presented and served to us in a very picturesque way. It was brought to our table hot and fresh. We ordered a variety of food as there were 6 of us. There were 2 burrito options chosen with our order and they were both MASSIVE burritos and each came with fries. I do wish there was more seasoning on the fries because the ones the were seasoned well were amazing but also, not so bad without it either just preferable to the seasoning. There was a quesabirrias w/consume option chosen with our order as well and I would absolutely recommend/order it every time. I’ve personally had my fair share birria tacos during my life in San Antonio, Tx and I have to say the ones they serve are as authentic and flavorful as they come. Our experience was a very positive one and we absolutely will return. Thank you for having us!

To see them in a restaurant is awesome. Their food is great. Authentic Mexican food fresh to order. Every time I visit, i try something different. Of course, I always forget to snap a picture. This time, I didn’t.
Agua Fresca. If you have never tried them, please do. They are very good, fresh, and not too sweet. Taste like homemade, not from a package. Pictured is a horchata and pineapple.
Tacos are tripa, langua and cebesa. Yummy.
Salsa and chips are very good. Mmmm. My favorite is the hot.

2/21/26 1:28pm. Very disappointed. The restaurant was clean and decorated nicely. Customer service was excellent. Food was terrible. We ordered the Pollo Quesadilla Grande and the Tacos Dorados. Both were presented nicely. The chicken was not seasoned at all. NO SALT, NO NOTHING. It seems like the chicken used in both dishes was boiled and shredded. It had a very strong chicken taste that actually made me gag. I told the waitress that we cannot eat this and to please bring the bill. We left both dishes on the table with 1 bite missing from each. I paid the bill in full. And no one came out from the back to ask us anything about it. Waste of $35. I’ll stick with Mariachis from now on.

The BEST Mexican spot in Sumter by far!! Service is always amazing. The margaritas are fantastic and I loveeee the food. My go to order is the sopes with chicken and some salsa verde but everything I’ve tried is soo delicious you will not be disappointed! Highly recommend.
