We visited for an early dinner on a Friday and the restaurant soon filled up around 7pm. We had Focaccia with oil and balsamic, followed by carbonara and cobb salad. And then Tiramisu and salted caramel profiteroles for pudding. It was all delicious, the Tiramisu could have been a little more boozy though.
I’ve dropped 1 star on two of the categories.
Food – the cost of a portion of fries is £4.95 (£5.35 for sweet potato option) which seems excessive. For example, if you’re ordering a steak for £21, you then have to pay a further £4.95 for a portion of fries which is not is not huge – I think the price could be improved for this and other such dishes that don’t come with an accompaniment, eg the Philly cheesesteak sandwich and the half chicken peri peri.
Atmosphere – great, but as I’ve mentioned in previous reviews, the 2 doors to enter the restaurant are really heavy and have some weird suction of air that happens every time someone enters or leaves the restaurant, which leaves me popping my ears like on an aeroplane which is bearable but a bit annoying.
Takeaways are also available and there are good offers to be had on both takeaway and eat in options. We had 50% off our food on this visit (eating in) and have had the same from takeaways in January which is a great saving. Definitely recommend and we will be going back again soon.
Have already recommended it to family, who enjoyed it so much, we have bought them a gift voucher. They do live locally & planned to return, so the voucher makes a thoughtful gift.
Along with a Tiramasu espresso martini and a fruit punch mocktail. ( Not 100% sure of that’s its name )
Staff were well mannered and friendly.
Didn’t have to wait too long for drinks and food to be served. But I feel if it was busy, you’d be waiting maybe a little longer than you’d want.
The cocktail and mocktail were very nice and I’d have again. Along with the food good decent quality.
But…… unfortunately, I dont feel they offer value for money. For the quality and quantity of the food, the price point was a tad too high.
For 2 drinks and 2 mains it was a few pence short of £50 ( This included a 10% service charge. )
For example it’s about about £5 for a side of chips with your main. ( large handful at best.) I’d expect for that for the chips to be included in the price.
Also, upon ordering we had to wait for cesar sald dressing for one main and I had ordered sweet potato fries as my side and was given normal chips.
I did point this out and they apologised and gave a small discount but also offered to do the sweet potato still. ( I declined because I’d only have to wait for them to be cooked and was already eating )
Waiting to ask and Pay for he bill took a little long than I wanted so I had to take myself to to bar and ask someone to take my money. ( Personal annoyance. Once you’ve eaten, you just want to go )
Overall, a decent experience and price point is far too high for what they offer for me to return.
I must point out they do have offers on before 5pm that I think is about 20% less in price… so based on that maybe I’d pop back for a bite.
ℎ . !
Didn’t score atmosphere as didn’t eat in.
