This was one the best restaurant experiences I have had in years. The food was delicious and the cocktails were so creative. Our server was fantastic. A new favorite in Philly, will definitely coming back. We paid about 100$ pP for a few shared mains, a shared dessert and two cocktails each.

La Jefa Cafe is AMAZING & one of Philly’s best kept gems! We treated ourselves to a Valentine’s Day brunch and the food, service & ambiance were each 5 stars! The Mexican (Guadalajaran) based cuisine “with a twist” was showcased by vegetarian huevos verdes, which was vibrant, and packed with flavor, along with a flavorful zucchini sandwich that was both hearty and light. To finish, with a deliciously creamy, cinnamon chocolate mocha, we shared a pistachio concha (doughnut) and marzipan danish both beautifully crafted, melt-in-your-mouth tasty without being overly sweet. The fresh ingredients experienced in every bite along with great service, creative menu, and outstanding execution makes this a premier restaurant without a premium price tag ! Can’t wait to try dinner-

Been going there to get my usual tascalate (it’s so damn good!), but their brunch is absolutely fantastic! The Chicano might be one of the best sandwiches I ever had (to be fair I don’t eat sandwiches often) and the concha was delicious. I can’t wait to try the rest of the menu!

La Jefa is vibe! We stopped by for brunch and they were able to get us in without a reservation pretty easily. The bartender was really friendly, gave us great suggestions (the danish is ), and even let us try a specialty mezcal we asked about. We’ll definitely be back for dinner!

We went here to celebrate some good news and it did not disappoint! The quesadilla and short rib dishes are out of this world – we plan to go back.
Very friendly service and nice vibe as well. Looking forward to checking out the cafe.
We noticed a good amount of people that seemed to be on first dates. It seems like a good spot for that.
The drinks were also very good and they had a wide variety of options.

La Jefa is a beautiful blend of Mexican tradition and modern flair in Rittenhouse.
The Garibaldi cocktails, especially the green apple and grapefruit, are refreshingly unique, with a light, fluffy texture that makes them perfect for brunch or happy hour.
The enmolados are rich and comforting, featuring crispy pork belly and fried eggs over mole-smothered tortillas. Every bite is layered with flavor and warmth.
The space is stunning, with a bright café up front and a relaxing speakeasy-style bar in the back. Whether you’re here for coffee, cocktails, or a full meal, La Jefa delivers an unforgettable experience.

What an incredible spot. Everything is in this place screams culture, passion and integrity. The food , the service and the selection of exotic agave spirits make this restaurant an exciting journey to the heart of the Mexican culture.
The Suro’s family have created something truly special and worth celebrating.
Congratulations and Godspeed ❤️❤️

Found this place for the great reviews,,took a train to Philly & Walked in the freezing cold after the snow storm to make sure I got to try the guayaba caramel cappuccino and the hibiscus dusted concha and let me tell you it was SO WORTH IT ! the concha was the best I’ve ever had ,it was served warm with filling ,crisp top and can’t wait to come back for other items on the menu ! The vibes are everything,& staff super friendly .

The aesthetic of the place is great; it gives Oaxaca vibes. I love the fact that it’s not the “gringo” interpretation of how a Mexican place should look (e.g., sombreros and maracas).
However, the price-to-portion-size ratio is not the best-it’s a bit overpriced.
Also, in a bold attempt at making cocina de autor-style food, they somehow lost the authenticity.
The aguachile was way too spicy (even for a Mexican). They tried to compensate for the spiciness and the pH with an oily base, but the flavors were not well integrated, and an oily film was left on my palate.
Anyways, overall it’s better than many other pseudo mexican places.
