Tried this newer Mexican restaurant today. I gave it 3 stars, but if they had half stars I would have given it a 3.5. For reference, I would give other locals Mexican restaurants such as Garcias 4 stars.
Pro’s: food is pretty good, but not real good. Portions are hardy. Price is a bit too high in my opinion based on ambiance and food quality. When paying for meal they asked how we liked it? I mentioned the shrimp was not deveined/clean. They apologized and took a few dollars off our food bill. Which was nice.
Cons: water was served in 6 ounce styrofoam cups, so I was thirsty, cutlery was plastic, which is a turn off when paying $19 per plate. Had to pay extra for chips and pico, $3.50.

This spot is an absolute sleeper hit. Family owned and you can feel it the second you walk in straight up homemade vibes and everything tastes like it came out of someone’s abuela’s kitchen.
The shrimp dishes?? Unreal. The camarones are packed with flavor spicy, buttery, garlicky… just ridiculous in the best way. Easily some of the best Mexican shrimp I’ve had in Layton.
And it’s not just the shrimp the whole menu goes hard. Big portions, fresh ingredients, nothing bland, nothing phoned in. Every bite hits.
Service is super friendly too, like they actually care that you’re there.
