We had no idea they closed at 9 and showed up at 8:55pm. They were walking over to lock the door, turned around and headed to the counter to take our order, and made it quickly. We were so happy they took our order and were friendly about it. The food was fresh and excellent. We enjoyed the meal and will be coming back.

Disgusting food and attitude. They acted like I was bothering them by coming in, trying to order food was not welcoming. When the food came out the lady just dropped it on the counter and yelled out food and walked away. The food took 5 minutes to come out that should have been my red flag! The chicken was extremely hard and dry taste old. Seems like they had it sitting out all day and whatever sauce you want they just put it on it and serve it. Money wasted

I Used to order from here all the time, I don’t understand what happened. The lady on the phone is very rude & yells at you and I ordered two wonton soups both a quart that barely had anything in them When they used to be full to the brim. I won’t be ordering from here ever again.

For it to be the only Chinese restaurant in Gates County, they can do better. I’ve only eaten there a few times. Each time was worse than the last. But this is the last straw. The bourbon chicken was even bourbon. It was fried. And it came along with a FRIED GNAT! Sorry but it’s not worth the hype nor the money.

Boxes stacked everywhere. Restaurant looked dirty. The staff was kind. The food was terrible. I ate 2 bites and threw the rest away. The take out boxes are nice plastic that can be reused.

First time there. Had my doubts but it turned to to be spot on. Had house fried rice and egg rolls. It was ready, hot, and tasted great or I was just really hungry. Definitely eat there again.

Whenever we are celebrating something big in my family we order from the China King. I love how careful they are during this pandemic (still happening in 2023 if you’re immunocompromised like me!) with no-contact pick-up. Their food is always excellent and allow us to take a night off cooking and celebrate life. Their restaurant and family remind me what makes America beautiful— diverse people, various cultures, so many languages, all of us here living our lives together.

Edit: Had to post an updated review. Not sure if it was just an off day, or if the pandemic hit them pretty hard, but the quality has dropped a significant amount. The portions, and the overall quality was great my last visit, but this time it wasn’t very good. The chicken in my Bourbon chicken was very dry, chewy, and lacking on portion size. The appetizer I get, teriyaki chicken, was also very dry and small portions. Some sauce would have definitely helped out, but it wouldn’t have fixed the overcooked, small portions. Hopefully this was flook, and things go to to like before.
Very good food. Tastes alot better than the chinese food we’ve had at other places, looking forward to next time we get food from here.
