I spontaneously popped into this shop today, and the aroma of freshly roasted beans was like heaven! I got a drip coffee and it was truly one of the best cups I’ve ever had. I was told that they were using locally grown beans from Ka’u and Puna. This coffee was incredibly smooth with delicate caramel undertones. Aside from packages of coffee, some earrings, and hand crafted coffee soap, there wasn’t anything else in the shop. However, the girls were delightful and fun to talk story with. There was also a pretty sitting area on the lanai. I highly recommend that you stop in and experience a truly exquisite cup of joe!

We’re from Seattle so we were excited to check out local coffee options. Hilo Coffee Mill did not disappoint! Karina and Rachel took time to welcome us. The hospitality and conversation were amazing.
They offered us a taste the brew of the day (YUM!), and they explained the nuances of the different roasts for sale. You KNOW we bought several to take home with us.
Thank you Hilo Coffee Mill for the exceptional welcome and superior cup of coffee.

First off, the coffee is really great! The ice cream is also yummy with a shot of espresso, and drizzled with chocolate! Our to go lunch, which was a Tuna sandwich and the pork wrap, they both were prepared by Sadia, she gave us excellent service with a big smile!

My wife and I had an absolutely wonderful farm tour with Jeanette, the owner. She explained to us the entire coffee making process and showed us their roasting facilities. Next, we went out to. The farm and saw the drying room and trees. We got to sample some of the wild fruit and even a coffee cherry. We finished off trying a couple of their roast!
Things to note are it appears the website doesn’t send everyone their confirmation email after purchasing a tour. In addition, you will be on a farm and in an area that gets a lot of rain so best to wear closed toe shoes and potentially long pants. The store will shop you coffee beans so you don’t need to worry about over filling your luggage. Lastly, there are chickens running around.
Overall it was a wonderful tour and we wish we could have been in town on Saturday to see their weekly farmers market!

Thanks Hilo coffee mill! We stopped here today, a Tuesday around 1:00 ish and they had 3 different coffees they were sampling. All the samples were All yummy and it was so interesting to learn about Why Hawaiian coffee is so not bitter (at least to us compared to other coffees) So there was a lot we had to learn about “coffee cherries” and other terms and everybody there was very happy to share the information with us! And not in a snobby way! and then we walked over to the roasting room and got a little bit more information from Adam in there. We were happy with the samples, and our purchases. Even the owner shared a lot of info and seems to really enjoy her business. We are Excited to share some gifts with family that we purchased from there. So in the end all were very helpful and the only one that was a bit unfriendly appeared to be a local but after spending some time there she also seemed to get friendlier and less abrupt. So give it a try and don’t let one employee ruin it, we didn’t & were glad we stayed about 20-30 minutes. Also if they are busy with other customers they will get to you. One thing I think that would help is a sign that explains where to stand to get a sample of coffee and perhaps wait in line if there’s others there ahead of you… Like a sign from the ceiling that says “like a coffee sample? Wait here” and an arrow pointing.

Coffee was sooo smooth, the chickens were engaging, and the sign that told you where to park was very small. There was also an elderly cat! Meow!

I had an iced latte, very good, nice & strong. Lovely flowers and places to sit around. The property is funny, it looks more like a house and google maps tried to make me go the wrong way, down a grown over grass road. It’s right off the highway, easy to find if you’re looking.
