AJUA Mexican Kitchen & Bar is one of those places that instantly feels inviting. The atmosphere is lively yet relaxed, making it easy to settle in and enjoy the experience without feeling rushed. It works just as well for a laid-back dinner as it does for a fun night out.
We ordered from their ELITE menu, and every dish truly lived up to the name. The Air Nachos were a great way to start—light, crispy, and packed with flavor without feeling heavy. The Mexican shrimp cocktail was fresh and refreshing, with a nice balance of citrus, spice, and tender shrimp.
One standout dish was the grilled steak over crispy potatoes, finished with chipotle aioli and chimichurri sauce. The steak was cooked perfectly, full of flavor, and the sauces tied everything together beautifully. The quesabirria with jus was rich, cheesy, and incredibly satisfying, with deep, slow-cooked flavor that made every bite memorable.
The tacos were excellent across the board. We tried the crispy chicken, goat barbacoa, cauliflower, and carnitas, and each one had its own distinct character. From crunchy and savory to tender and boldly seasoned, there wasn’t a single miss. The quesadilla with huitlacoche was another highlight—earthy, comforting, and something you don’t see on every menu, which made it even more special.
The margaritas were smooth and well-balanced, and the service was friendly and attentive throughout our visit. Overall, AJUA Mexican Kitchen & Bar delivers on flavor, quality, and experience. Ajua is our new favorite Mexican restaurant in Jax Beach. Our server was attentive and pleasant and the bartender made an awesome mocktail and margarita.
The food was fantastic! I’m a huge fan of croquettes and Ajua did it right with a delicious guava jam. We mix and matched tacos, which were also a hit, especially the carnitas taco. The flautas were very nicely done with perfectly crisp tortillas. They say you eat with your eyes and the presentation of the food was brilliant. We will be back again to continue our exploration of Ajua’s food and drinks.

Best Mexican food I’ve had outside of Mexico.
I just got back from a trip to Chiapas and while visiting my family in Florida I had a craving for Mexican food. The pictures of the tacos at this place looked good so I took the chance and I was really impressed.
The food was as good as the pictures looked. Just as good as any of the tacos I had in Chiapas. I also loved the churros. Exactly as good as the churros I had from the street vendors in San Cristobal. I will be visiting to eat here again the next time I come to visit my family

Had 4.5 stars so decided to get it a try! Absolutely a MISTAKE very small portions and zero flavor chicken fajitas carnitas tacos were so greasy they ruined my car seat leaking through the bag on my way home can see the oil puddle in the picture. My order of queso was about 30% filled in the small to go container it came in! the worst Mexican restaurant experience “food wise” ive had in at least 15 years. One fajitas chicken two tacos and a side of queso for $55.90 very sad for this price please be smarter then me and go elsewhere. I see now why at 5:30 p.m on a saturday my family were the only ones in the restaurant besides one man at the bar!

This was my second time here. Both times I have had great cocktails and fresh delicious food. Great atmosphere and they had a woman making tortillas from scratch. I have tried the fajitas and If few different appetizers. Definitely give it a try.

We had the best experience here and have been here multiple times. If you’ve been to Mexico outside of Cancun and touristy places, this is Mexican food at its best. Pictured here is the Carne Asada dinner, Taco Dinner one of their Ceviche dishes. When we travel through Mexico, what we know is that they always use the food of the land and this food at Ajua is wonderful. Please visit Ajua!! Taco Tuesday is a good time to check things out because they have specials on Taco Tuesday, but their entrees are delicious as well. Give this place a chance, please. They have great service and great chefs and great drinks. Flavor of thr food just takes you back to traveling the roads of Mexico .

gave it 3 tries, take out each time. each time wasnt good. food value is aweful. tacos were extremly and small. quasadilas were basically one taco tortilla made to a quesdillla. for the price you would expect something great with enough for leftovers. its the opposite. small portions that arent even good. each time i went, the place was empty, no wonder. im so surprised the reviews are at 4+ stars. dont waste your money on 25$ burritos or $30 fajitas. ill be surprised if this place is still open in 6 months.

My wife and I dined here tonight in Jax Beach. We were greeted at the door, seated promptly, and given tablets with information about the restaurant. Shortly after, our waitress came over and asked for our drink and appetizer orders. There was no introduction to the concept, menu, or drink options. Later, we noticed another couple receive a much more thorough introduction, which felt inconsistent.

Overall, for the price, the experience felt overrated. While the food was not terrible, it was average at best. For a higher-priced restaurant, the quality, service, and presentation did not meet expectations. At approximately $125 for two people, the experience did not feel like a good value.

Delicious Lunch…We’ve been living in North East Florida for five years and have been unable to find a satisfactory Mexican restaurant. Being from southern California, where we had many choices of very good Mexican restaurants. We finally discovered, within a half mile from our door delicious, authentically prepared Mexican dishes of food… and able to get habanero salsa, as we love it spicy ️ .
Our waiter, Israel, was also delightful and very attentive to our questions and needs.
The atmosphere was very pleasant, and the music was low and enjoyable.
Most bars and restaurants’ music are a bit too loud. Restaurants should be a place to meet and to enjoy good food.
Ajua is a place to sit and enjoy a good meal, where you can have good conversation with each other.
This is definitely the place to do that… thank you, Ajua we will be back.
