Our book club came here to meet for the month of October. We got coffee & breakfast! Everything was delicious ! We spent probably 2 hours there just eating, talking & enjoying the atmosphere. Huge space upstairs, they were so busy but it’s so big & spread out you don’t feel crammed in like sardines. Can’t wait to go back!

I live out of town and popped by for a to-go order. The lady at the register was not professional in her engagement with the two gentlemen in front of me. They asked basic questions about food and the employee seemed short with them. I ordered a breakfast burrito to go, nothing else. I figured it would be a 15 min wait based on the reviews. It was 29 min before I received my single burrito. No staff checked in with me during that time to update me on the wait time. Or, to see if I needed anything while I waited. Hospitality, service, and generosity are crucial. The lack of awareness and acknowledgement of my wait time on their end surprised me. In a town that sees numerous vistors and residents my hope is that this place is able to create a more positive first-time experience for others. However, I wont be back.

Sunflower Cafe is such a boon to the downtown Lawrence community. It’s often where we stop for a coffee on our way to the farmers market on Saturday mornings. The upstairs lounge is perfect for a coffee meet-up with a friend or an evening glass of wine with a good book. The service is always prompt and friendly. The food is simple, but good. And the coffee is top notch.

The service and atmosphere was great, but unfortunately my drink (iced café mocha latte) did not meet expectations. The drink tasted watered down from the start, and the coffee itself tasted more sour than it should have been, alongside little chocolate flavor. I imagine the grind was too coarse and the water used was too cold, and perhaps not enough sauce. A lot of non-chain coffee shops in Lawrence suffer from similar under-extraction issues, which is unfortunate. Doesn’t make sense to charge Starbucks/Dutch/Scooters prices if the taste isn’t comparable or better.

We went there for breakfast. We ordered the egg sandwich with bacon, classic breakfast, black tea (Earl Grey), and coffee. The food was tasty. Coffee refills should be included in the price. It is awkward to go back for a coffee refill only to be told you have to pay extra. I don’t mind paying extra for coffee refills, but that option should be offered when the original order is placed.

Another outdoor shop, mainly bikes with a cafe inside. I came here for coffee. The place was bustling but the coffee came out quick. Did not try the food but the menu looked good.

I sat at a table on the ground floor and my table was super wobbly so I moved to upstairs where 2 more tables were so wobbly that I witnessed a man lose his coffee to the table teetering to the side as he placed his coffee on the table. My food was brought to me but not my drink and when I asked about it, she just said I’m supposed to get it myself at the bar (i was not told this at the register). What’s the point of you bringing my food if you can’t also bring the drink? So then I had to walk back downstairs to grab my drink and then back upstairs. One bagel with lox, one latte, and one drip coffee cost me 19 bucks. The toasted bagel was somehow wet on its own (before I put the cream cheese and lox on it). The atmosphere is too eclectic. I should give 2 stars but the actual taste of my latte and food portion sizes was really good. I would only go back if they fix the tables and let people know they have to get their own drinks at the bar.

One of the best meals I’ve had in a long time. I was expecting mediocre food from a cafe inside a bike shop but everything we had was absolutely delicious. We ordered the curry chicken salad, a burger, and the soft pretzel. The sandwiches came with fries that were perfect. Pricey but worth it.

Hip local coffee shop with a bike shop attached. Interesting and unique concept with a lot of space for both bikes and the coffee shop. We were there in the morning and had a breakfast burrito, egg sandwich and a BLT with egg. All were delicious and well prepared. We also had an Americano, a Cappuccino and a latte and all passed with flying colors. Interesting tidbit is that Valteri Bottas, a Formula One driver, visited this place while competing in a bike race held in Lawrence. He will probably continue to visit for as long as he competes in the race which happened to be held the weekend before the Formula One Austin race.

Ok so to start, my wife wanted me to let everyone know that she received compliments on both her hair and her dress while here sooo…testament to the atmosphere I suppose? Everything is great from coffee to cocktails, make sure this place is a priority while you’re on Mass street.
