My wife and I ventured over to Purple Yum Bakery in Lexington last night for a unique dinner. Having lived in Japan with family for 4 1/2 years we got used to the yummy Asian Baked Goods available. Purple Yum brings back a lot of great memories. Their Vegetable Curry buns are to die for and so are the soft bread savory good Char Siu Bao (Chinese BBQ Buns). They have a number of unique, sweet offerings as well. Note that the “sweet“ is not the same kind of sweet that you get at a donut shop. It’s much less pronounced, still sweet, but in a mild fashion. I just can’t imagine that I hadn’t been there yet but things made it difficult. I will be going back and very soon! Worth the trip. Worth the time. Worth the money!

Everything is pretty good. It seems by 5 pm there weren’t as many options as there would’ve been earlier in the day. My favorite was the brioche with ube cream. I wish they had more ube stuff- I only saw 2. The setup is self-serve, so you go in there and fill up your tray with what you want then they check it out for you at the register. Kind of buffet style so leaves room for germs to get in when people are leaning over the ones in the front to get something further back.

I absolutely love this bakery. Their offerings are light and airy and not overly sweet. There are lots of amazing Asian flavors that I did not expect to find in Lexington. Purple Yum will also be making my daughter’s wedding cake and her dessert table, and we are incredibly excited and thrilled by it.
The atmosphere is clean and pleasing to the eye. Don’t be shocked; it is super purple inside!

There’s one thing that I always complain about when it comes to desserts in this city. Most places get them wrong, everything is over sweetened. It’s not about good tastes meshing with one another. Usually it’s just a sugar bomb that’s going to hurt your stomach. Not purple yum, my God this is the best cake I have had since I can remember. The tiramisu is my favorite, chocolate crepe cake is a close second. I am so coming back, I just hope it doesn’t add too many pounds.

Finally stopped by Purple Yum Bakery after seeing so many recommendations. I tried 8 different flavors and got my son a cheesecake dinosaur. Everything was absolutely delicious! It was hard to pick a favorite. I loved their sweet items, but their savory selections stole the show. Wow. The price was also not nearly as bad as I feared. I’ll probably get a few more things next time, because there will definitely be a next time. Yum is right!

I believe this is the Ube bun, & it was absolutely delicious! I wish I had a bigger appetite when I went but I only got one thing. I will definitely be back to try some of the other goodies.

These bakery items were delicious. The savory cheese honey mayo was amazing. The mochi donuts are also great. Honestly there wasn’t anything I didn’t like. Definitely stop in. Beautiful shop and great baked goods

Just found my new favorite bakery! This new Chinese bakery is an absolute gem—beautiful atmosphere, super friendly staff, and an incredible variety of delicious treats. Every bite was amazing! If you go, you have to try the Ube latte—so good! Highly recommend checking this place out.

Everything we had, both savory and sweet, was delicious and very reasonably priced. We got a variety of things as it was our first time year, in the picture is a veggie curry bun, an earl gray tea bun, a coconut cream bun, caramel cream bun, and a layered moon cake with red bean filling. I would purchase any of them again, especially the tea bun and the caramel cream bun. All the baked goods are perfectly and mildly sweetened, not overly sugary at all. The chai latte left a bit to be desired but was overall better than like from a chain coffee shop. We will definitely be back next time we’re in Lexington.
