Located within the Omni Hotel in downtown Atlanta. We made a reservation since it was a busy week at the hotel, but it didn’t seem necessary. The restaurant is surrounded by windows with views of the city and Centennial Olympic Park. Dinner prices were reasonable and portions were satisfactory. Our meals choices were both flavorful and filling. Our waiter was friendly and attentive.

2 caveats. One is that it’s a hotel restaurant. Two is that today was a large crowd due to SEC championship game and American epilepsy society convention.

That being said, awful experience. No indication was given that the restaurant would not be offering the regular menu and instead would be buffet style. The buffet was low effort and business convention lunch style. Flavorless and overcooked salmon pieces, boiled rubbery chicken, cold corn on the cob, “Korean” style ribs that had 0 Korean characteristics. I saw people making burgers and chicken sandwiches at the grill and asked if I could order one and was told that “only people in the hallway can order those”.

Also attached is a photo of the $20 old fashioned I ordered, which looks like something that someone half drank at a cash bar at a small wedding. It should not have cost any money, and lucky this was a business dinner but it was embarrassing nonetheless. It took me 30 minutes into dinner just to get this ordered because of how busy the waitress was.

Overall, it was very clear from today and from previous reviews that this restaurant does not have confidence in staffing and executing a full service dinner program when there is any hint of a crowd, and their business solution is to offer a low effort buffet that did not have any southern comfort food elements to it at all. The Omni hotel should be embarrassed that this is happening in their premises. Best part is that they automatically add tip to the bill even though you essentially receive no service aside from clearing used plates and getting a drink ordered and delivered every 20-30 minutes.

The restaurant seems to be connected to a hotel and coming from certain entrances it’s a bit hard to find as it’s tucked in all the way to the right side of the building. We ordered Fried Green Tomatoes, Grits & Shrimp, Lobster Mac N Cheese, and a Samlmon dish. I was disappointed by the mac n cheese as the lobster was awesome yet the mac n cheese was quite dry as if before the waiter brought the food to the table it had stayed out for a couple minutes.

We came to have dinner before the Beyonce concert on July 11, 2025 and had a great time. We ended up meeting someone else going to the concert sitting at another table so we had a nice chat with a nice environment. Staff was super friendly and made the night better.

I was excited about this place based on the reviews but we had a very different experience. The Brussels sprouts and fried green tomatoes were excellent but that’s the only positive thing I have to say. We ordered the “special” cowboy ribeye medium rare and it came out medium well, not that our server stopped by to see how our food was. It took us forever to stop somebody else to get a knife to even eat it. At $85, huge disappointment. The other meals were ok. After dinner we stopped by the bar and the bartenders hardly acknowledged us when they did, weren’t friendly. We definitely do not recommend and will not be back.

Great atmosphere and my waiter was friendly.

I ordered the fried chicken thigh, it was mostly batter and was not fully cooked. The macaroni and cheese was moreso macaroni in milk. However the greens were tasty, savory and sweet.

A picture is with a thousand words so dropping one here for your reference.

We had breakfast Nov 3, 2024 and the atmosphere was lovely however the food quality needs improvement. Two stars for atmosphere.
For over $60. For 2 people the meal should be incredible however was not. The buffet was depleted, bland and messy and the food (grits and eggs on the buffet) needed to be seasoned, in the south grits should have ample salt, pepper and seasoning, they were bland and watery. Waffles were cold. The same with the eggs watery and bland. The fruit selection of honeydew and cantaloupe needed more variety, those dishes remained full seemingly since not many guests enjoy melon. The omelet station was busy and was most likely the best thing however we are not big omelet fans. So we enjoyed a bagel with cream cheese and bacon. We were not guests in the hotel but with the Google reviews, chose to try the New South Restaurant because of such high ratings (4.7). Would not recommend breakfast, maybe they do better with a different meal period.

We had reservations for Mother’s Day, and it was great from the ease of valet parking and friendly staff, to the hostess and our server, Elizabeth. The chef outdid himself with this brunch with breakfast treats like a French toast casserole, a variety of breakfast meats, grits and an omelette station, and a lunch fare with red snapper, salmon, roast beef, short ribs chicken, scallops, shrimp and grits, gazpacho, and even some duck. What got me going back for seconds was a fabulous carrot curry soup that caught me off guard with its smoothness and flavor. The variety of desserts allowed my wife to satisfy the entirety of her sweet tooth. It was nice to see both the director and assistant director of the Hotel’s Food & Beverage department, the Restaurant manager, and Head Chef checking on the guests and staff during this occasion to make sure everyone was satisfied.

AMAZING atmosphere, good food
and service. The waiters and waitresses were super welcoming. My food came out at a reasonable time frame. [EXTREMELY SMALL CROUD] I would love to go back for their breakfast or brunch. After experiencing the absolute worst food and service thats not too far from here in the same building, I must say I will be coming back. My salmon burger was cooked perfectly. My brussel sprouts taste amazing. Can’t wait to go back.

Expecting to order dinner from the menu. It had great reviews on Atlanta Eats. We arrive and her told there is only a taco bar. We were seated. Restaurant was only 1/2 full. 10 minutes later went up to hostess to ask for service. 10 more minutes until someone came.Taco bar was weak, a 5 out of 10.
Staying in the Omni and would not go back!
