Overpriced. Paid $19 for a small plate of lo mien and chicken. The lo mien had a terrible aftertaste like burnt/ smoke. Just not it. The egg role was raw and then the fortune cookie was beyond stale. First and last time eating this food. DO NOT RECOMMEND!!

I mean their service isn’t all that 100% great simply because the adults really don’t speak that much of English. When the kids are at the counter to service is a lot better. The food is average I really like their egg rolls the size and the taste but that’s the best thing out of it. The pork fried rice I can tell you the rice really isn’t fried that long in pork basically what they do is they take the white steam rice and throw it in their wok. throw the pork in there swish it around just a little bit to change the color from the rice to a off-white I mean like little off-white. It’s not really fried with the pork and come out brown and crispy like pork red pork fried rice. There’s nose peas carrots and onions like in some of the other pork fried rice places. Traditional pork fried rice starts with steamed white rice. So I’m not faulting them for that. I’m balking them on how they make the pork fried rice half ass.
The wonton soup is good. At one time it used to be really oily and now it’s not. So that’s a great thing. But you must ask about certain things if it’s included or not included in the meals. For example I am allergic to the dye in the imitation crab. Although it’s not listed on their menu I learned I had to ask if certain things had imitation crab in it. Just a word of caution if you have any food allergies. Ask in advance. When I got my food home, called and told them their menu doesn’t say imitation crab. The son going back and forth translating between the parents really wanted to argue with me. So when I showed up there I wasn’t in the best of moods. 30 mole round trip. However they had a new meal prepared with no imitation crab. And I know now if I order a meal from them. no imitation crab and I’ll get shrimp fried rice which is made the same way as pork fried rice but tastes better and has a little more flavor than just pork and a little off color white rice and oil.

This is my third time trying this place after the new owners…..I ordered a small eggdrop soup, and 4 cream cheese wantons for $11… The cream cheese wantons were good, but the egg drop soup smelled sour so I didn’t eat that and the fried noodles they give with the soup didn’t smell right either.. so I spent $11 to eat 4 cream cheese wantons.. sadly, I don’t think I will be going back..

I’ve lived in Ga for 6 years, originally from Chicago, this is by far the BEST Chinese food in the entire state. Egg rolls were delicious, crab Rangoon was the best I’ve ever had and the shrimp fried rice was delicious. Worth the 24 minute drive for take out.

Some of the best Chinese food I’ve ever had.

General’s Chicken, Sesame Chicken, Honey Wings, cheese wontons, and chicken dumplings are all fantastic.

A general/sesame chicken with pork-fried rice is around $9, but it will feed 2-3 adults. Portions are very generous.

Chen’s China has been a favorite of mine for years. I expected that once I moved to Portland, I’d find a place I liked more. I did not. Their sesame chicken in particular has only one equal in the dozens of Chinese restaurants I’ve been to across 5 states.

However, I’m taking a star off because in recent weeks they have this annoying tendency to not answer the phone. They have closed the dining room since Covid, which is fine, but they have pushed a call-in model and not adjusted to accommodate the extra phone traffic. Before covid, calling an order in ahead of time wasn’t an issue, but as I sit here writing this review I’ve been trying to call for an hour and 20 minutes. It would have been faster for me to go in and order at the window, despite the business pushing for call-aheads.
