Sage has a fantastic ambience and our service was top notch. What we ordered was visually appealing but unfortunately the taste didn’t measure up at all. The Pork appetizer was bland and the Duck entree was also not good. We were also very shocked at the prices. In our opinion they were double what we thought would be appropriate. We left disappointed. Perhaps lunch there would be more reasonable?

We stayed in Topton for a weekend away with whitewater rafting and came across this restaurant on the way to the local coffee shop. It’s so cute on the outside with the little garden next to it and we are foodies fo’ sho. We made reservations for the next night and noted that the restaurant asked for “smart casual” attire. We made sure to wear our nerdy glasses to look super smart. (Just kidding)

The food was excellent. I got the pork medallions (I had wanted the trout I had seen on a previous review posting, but it was not offered that night, boo!) and they were delicious. Very well cooked and melt in your mouth. My husband had the duck which was also well cooked and delicious! I think the blackberry sauce could have used just a little more sweetness, but I’m also not a chef myself.

We also got a coffee which was an individual French press which was very strong, but also fantastic. (We are coffee snobs).

For dessert, we got a chocolate flourless cake with some berries. It was excellent. I should have gotten 4.

Oh and we had the pork belly appetizer which was more delicious than it sounds. I don’t usually love eating fat, but it was

Definitely would recommend if you’re in the neighborhood!

We literally planned a trip to Andrews, NC *just* to try Sage’s elevated dining experience, and let me tell you: Chef Steven at Sage is FANTASTIC and we are floored by our magnificent experience! I cannot get over how delicious our dishes were tonight! EVERYTHING and I mean EVERYTHING was top-notch–the taste, the seasoning, the plating, the intention! (Pro tip: Do yourself a favor and try their sea bass dish and their dark chocolate “tube” with milk chocolate and hazelnut mousse!!) Steven–along with all of the wonderful folks that work there–are magicians, and really make sure your experience is memorable! In addition to the amazing service and food, the ambiance was so relaxing with the dim lighting, candles, and flowers. Perfect for a night out with your love, a group of friends–what have you. (: If you’re looking for an amazing dining experience, visit Sage. THIS IS YOUR SIGN, OKAY!? Just do it! Reserve your experience!!

Sage Elevated Ding is incredible. This is not your traditional restaurant. The gourmet touches put on every part of the meal were worthy of a five star restaurant. From appetizers like fried green tomatoes with blue crab pimento cheese and red pepper jelly sets the stage for what is to come, The entire meal was masterfully prepared and presented. Each bite of food totally delights your taste buds. The duck was unbelievable. The trout is not your deep fried, dried out version you get elsewhere, but a delicious juicy, perfectly cooked fish. Deserts were beyond description.

Chef Lash also made sure service was as great as his food. Robert, our waiter, came from years in top venues in New York and Charleston. So skilled and attentive.

This is now my go to place for a fine dining experience. Please check them out, you will be delighted, and your taste buds will thank you for days to come.

Second visit I had the chefs special appetizer, duck breast on bruschetta with caramelized onions and goat cheese. Yum! The entree was perfectly cooked NY Strip steak with an incredible rosemary sauce.

We spent a weekend in Andrews. Driving through the sleepy little town, I was looking for something to eat. My partner was very interested in the Friday night food truck event, but while looking for parking I spied “Sage”. The place looked quiet for a Friday which would normally deter me, but with the food truck rally out back, I guessed maybe parking was an issue? Well, I wanted something good, not greasy food truck junk, so I asked the hostess if we were okay to sit outside. We had been out on the boat all day, enjoying the sun and the water, so we were not dressed for fine dining. They not only said, “yes” but they told us to please come inside! We were blown away by that hospitality as we were in flip flops, shorts, tank tops! We decided to stay on the deck as the sun was setting and we enjoy that time of day so much. Our hostess brought water and thanked us for stopping by. She was very friendly, personable and had a very fun edgy style. Our server, Robert, was certainly the best service we have had in a long time. Handsome, knowledgeable and skilled, Robert really guided us through the entire experience. We ordered the fried green tomatoes and corn soup. Both were so flavorful and fresh! We also got the burrata dish. House made burrata. So delicious. We went on to order the salad with raspberries and the Veggie Dinner plate. The veggie plate is a combination of sides. Our favorite part was the smoked tomato grits. Absolutely delicious. Then we had coffee and port. I had to get dessert: bread pudding with peaches and a bourbon cream sauce. Oh baby. Talk about amazing. This is not your average mountain town restaurant. This is a hidden gem, diamond in the rough, top secret speak easy of flavor. Run… don’t walk. Support this chef and his vision. They give a classy atmosphere without a pretentious attitude. Just what Andrews needed. Thank you, Sage. An oasis in Andrews. Best meal I had all week. We will be back!

Sage is the exact thing that Andrews has longed for. Nestled in the most beautiful valley in North Carolina, you will find Sage, a truly elevated dining experience. From the moment you walk in through the courtyard you feel an overwhelming sense of elegance. Beautiful atmosphere. Kind staff. Chef was extremely accommodating to my very restrictive dietary needs, and never once made me feel out of place. I can’t wait to watch our new Andrews gem shine and sparkle like the diamond it is.

This new restaurant in Andrews, NC is going to do well. The service was incredible, the food was incredible. If you have the opportunity to order the scallop atop hot water cornbread, you have to try it. I’d never heard of making cornbread this way, but evidentially it traces back to the Native Americans. It was amazing! The trout was cooked a way i’d never tried it, very crispy and delicious! We finished off the meal with a deconstructed Crème brûlée. The atmosphere is beautiful in a historic building right on main street. They offer outdoor dining as well! My only complaint is that I wish they were located in Blairsville. Maybe I can encourage a second location 🙂

Wow!!! Fine dining has arrived in Andrews, NC. We’ve been coming to Andrews and Lake Nantahala since 2004 and have NEVER had the experience we had at Sage! Amazing service, amazing food— the roasted pork belly with southern comfort plum glaze + smoked tomato grits appetizer was to die for! Fried green tomatoes with blue crab pimento cheese and red pepper jelly were best ever (and we are southerners who have had a lot of fried green tomatoes). For entrees, don’t miss the pan roasted duck breast, or the peach and habanero bbq salmon. I ordered scallops with corn that were a non-menu special and absolutely melt in your mouth. The desert didn’t disappoint either, you won’t regret the chocolate tube (trust me), but the peach and bourbon crème bread pudding was like nothing I’ve ever had. Go to Sage, arrive hungry, order anything — and enjoy the finest Andrews has ever offered. Thank you chef Steven Lash!!! We will be back.

Last week we had the pleasure of visiting SAGE Elevated Dining in Andrews,NC. What a great addition to the community! Here is a quick overview.

Our server Alayzia was excellent. New restaurant, new menu and she did an outstanding job answering all our questions. The staff was pleasant and helpful even assisting each other throughout service. The ambience; music, lighting and seating set the mood for the elevated experience we were expecting.
THE FOOD:
Chef and owner Steven Lash has truly flexed his passion for simplistic fresh by allowing the quality and flavors of his food to speak for itself! We had Winter Salad of Baby Romaine and the Deconstructed Brunswick Stew with Pork Belly for salad & appetizer. Main Course was Pan Roasted Mountain Trout, Coffee & Chili Roasted Filet and the Collard wrapped Chilean Sea Bass. OUTSTANDING!
We forced ourselves to try the Dark Choc Tube filled Milk Choc Hazelnut Mouse and the Crème Brûlée…both were perfect compliments to an already perfect meal.

So good to see someone like Chef Steven put forth his best to make this restaurant come to life in our little town. We are definitely looking forward to our next visit!
Bon appétit!!!
