Mario knows what he is doing. I’m not sure there is an item on the menu that is bad. This time we got the wings with buffalo sauce- that buffalo sauce is perfection. The fried zucchini- amazing, perfect breading to zucchini ratio and the marinara sauce adds a fun flavor profile. It’s delicious with or without the sauce. A side Caesar salad with some of the best Caesar dressing I’ve ever had. Lastly the meat lovers pizza. The portion sizes are generous and as are the prices. Again, Mario knows what he is doing. I can’t wait to go back for cheesecake or another one of their desserts! They have espresso shots and cappuccino now too! I’m full and happy and looking forward to leftovers and going back!

I recently dined at the authentic Italian restaurant in Montgomery (Old Cloverdale) and I’m blown away. The new York-style pizza is the best I’ve had in Alabama—better than any place in Mobile or Birmingham. The service was outstanding: attentive, helpful with the menu, and the Saturday night specials were superb.

The pizza itself was absolutely delicious—the crust is the best in town, with toppings that are fresh and robust. The pasta and sauce were amazing, very fresh, and the chicken marsala (made with real marsala wine) was the best in the Tri-County. The mushrooms complemented the dish perfectly. The owner was fabulous and has run other Italian restaurants across the United States; it’s a true family restaurant, and the local feel is amazing. The cheese ravioli is a hidden gem. They do both lunch and dinner—please check them out. You will not be disappointed whatsoever. The owner is truly exceptional—fabulous, personable, and clearly passionate about Italian cuisine. He has owned and operated multiple Italian restaurants across the United States, including several in New York, which brings a breadth of expertise and a hallmark attention to detail. As a family-run operation with deep local roots in Montgomery, the restaurant feels both authentically local and proudly connected to a broader culinary tradition. It’s refreshing to support a local business led by someone who has built a national reputation while prioritizing the Montgomery community and its diners.

First time here after they took ivermectin the old Tomatino’s location. Be sure to check hours of operation to be sure they are open. I went for lunch with co-workers and we split a large meat lovers pizza. It took about 25 minutes for our pizza to come out and at the time they weren’t that busy inside. Be prepared for possible longer wait times if they are busy. Unless you have flexibility in you lunch schedule, expect spending at least a full hour at the restaurant. The pizza was excellent. Ingredients tasted fresh and the perfection of the crust was outstanding. Thin, but not too thin and crispy. The large pizza was close to $29 but we split the cost making it a very reasonable lunch. Most of the main entrees are in that $25 to $30 range but we did not order those so I don’t know what size portions they are. Based on the flavor of the pizza, I would love to come back and try the main entrees with my wife. I would guess it could get a little pricey for dinner and would probably be in the $65 to $75 range without any alcoholic beverages. Hopefully, I’ll get the opportunity to come back and try some more dishes and add to my comments. They are definitely worth a try!

Hey, I’m a life long NJ & NY pizza guy. This is the best pizza in the south! I’ve struggled for years trying to find a pie. This family restaurant is legit and I take two pies home every time I leave Montgomery for my Florida home. A frozen slice gets me through the dark days of Florida panhandle pizza!

So for my first time here I have to say I did enjoy my meal. I was expecting maybe a reimagining of the previous restaurant but it couldn’t be more different. While the decor wasn’t bad the best way to describe it is that it feels like what an Italian restaurant would look like in a TV show. Service was great, food was quick and we didn’t have anything we didn’t like. Next time I would try a specialty pizza instead of a one topping slice to get the full pizza experience.

We had a wonderful late Sunday lunch on the patio at La Trattoria, soaking up the beautiful weather and enjoying some quality time together. It was the perfect setting for a relaxing date day with my sweet wife. The appetizers and pizza were absolutely delicious—fresh, flavorful, and exactly what we were hoping for. Our server, Will, was fantastic—friendly, attentive, and made sure everything was just right. Great food, great service, and an even better atmosphere. We’ll definitely be back!

First time here. First, I loved the way they decorated the place even if someone else said it looks like what people think an Italian restaurant looks likes. I’ve been to Italy a number of times and still found this place to have a great atmosphere. They clearly were going for a NYC Italian vibe. They have a lot of fun details and the chairs are comfortable.

We were the first to arrive on a Sunday for lunch. Soon after a loud obnoxious family whose kids were loudly clapping and jumping around were seated next to us. We asked to be moved. We then had another loud child seated next to us. Different music might help. They were playing some kind of Italian big band music from the side of the restaurant so it didn’t allow for much white noise of the loud kids. Perhaps the families can all be seated in one area? If you look at my past reviews this is something I don’t complain about often but it really dampened the atmosphere here

Now for the food: we shared the caprese and it was flavorful. I had the chicken Marsala over pasta and it was great. The chicken Parmesan, however, was not inviting. It looked very soupy and the chicken was overdone. The bread was also very good—they make it homemade from their pizza dough

Our waitress was really great and responsive.

They are now serving beer and wine… just waiting on their liquor license, which will also come with a large bar area

A few small tips for improvement—get rid of the plastic red bread containers for straw ones and get rid of large plastic Pepsi cups, since they run counter to the great atmosphere you have created

Newest Italian pizza place you gotta try! First, for dinner, highly suggest reservations and make sure it’s confirmed. We went there for our anniversary and with a hiccup, they were very accommodating. We started off with the Mozzarella Caprese. Wow! Presentation was EYE CANDY and the flavors blended beautifully. We had a wait for the pizza but knowing each one is made from scratch, yes ma’am, it was worth the wait. If you’re not familiar with true New York style pizza, it’s not smothered in a ton of sauce. I’m not a fan of thin crust pizza but this changed my mind. Ordered a Large Supreme Pizza. Crust was done perfectly, crisp not burnt, all the flavors blended well and you can taste it all. Of course, we couldn’t finish it all that night so we got a to-go box. Had the rest for lunch the next day and the crust was still crisp which should tell you about the ingredients used. Going to try out their lunch service next! Excellent job!

I am so so so happy that La Trattoria came to the neighborhood. I’ve been about 6 times now, for both lunch and dinner. The first time I went, I had the margherita pizza, and I admittedly haven’t branched out very much because the it was so good! We get it just about every time. I’ve also had the Italian sandwich for lunch, and it was also really good. If you go, you absolutely must try the gelato. Pistachio is always a great choice. The service is also always great. Staff is super friendly and the owners are very hands-on and willing to go the extra mile to make your experience a good one. So glad that La Trattoria is now a permanent staple in our dinner rotation!

La Trattoria in Cloverdale is a welcome addition to the local dining scene—an inviting new Italian spot with the charm of a classic neighborhood trattoria. We were seated promptly, and the ambiance felt warm and authentically old-school, like stepping into a family-run eatery in Italy.

We ordered two pizzas and a slice of lasagna to share. The lasagna arrived well before the pizzas, which made for a slightly awkward start since only one of us could dig in right away. The pizzas followed, but were staggered by several minutes. Hopefully the kitchen can fine-tune its timing as they settle in.

That said, the food was outstanding. The pizzas had an excellent crust—crisp on the outside, chewy on the inside—and were topped just right. The lasagna was the real standout: rich, flavorful, and smothered in a deeply satisfying sauce. My only suggestion would be to consider using fresh pasta instead of boxed; it would elevate the dish even more.

Despite the pacing hiccups, we’ll definitely be back. The quality of the food makes this place a must-try if you’re in the area.
